Firmly believe that if anything else outside of the Maupay & Mangala deals were happening, we'd have heard something concrete by now..

I’d rather give Patterson a chance. Patterson Coleman Dixon should be enough at right back. The first two just have an inability to stay fit recently though.

Osimhen goes to Saudi, Lukaku goes to Napoli, Toney goes to Chelsea and Brentford need a striker - am I missing something?

Brentford needing a striker wouldn't help us as Calvert-Lewin probably wouldn't fancy that and they certainly wouldn't pay the wages he's been asking for

Edit - reading between the lines, looks like the Saudis have toney agreed as their fallback option

£16m on O’Brien only makes sense if Branthwaite left.

Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Keane and Holgate isn’t ideal but it’s enough to cope at CB.

With respect, that's nonsense.

O'Brien was not brought in to be our 5th choice CB. He's already ahead of Holgate in the pecking order and, on the strength of the last three games, should be starting ahead of Keane. He's been brought in to serve several purposes:

1) short term: cover for Tarkowski and Branthwaite, minimising the amount of time Holgate (and hopefully Keane) will see on the pitch.

2) short term: adding pressure upon Holgate's Agent to find his player a new club.

3) medium term: playing alongside Branthwaite to build a partnership just in case we somehow keep him.

4) medium term: playing alongside Tarkowski to build a partnership to take over if we sell Branthwaite

5) medium term: Holgate and Keane both put of contract next summer and hopefully not renewed. Without O'Brien we'd be down to two senior CBs next July.

Chelsea have missed out on Victor Osimhen and Man United have missed out on Toney so I expect we'll see these two clubs bidding for DCL.
