Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

Here's a question: Why didn't the club go after Joel Matip who left the RS at the end of his contract? A more than acceptable centre back, settled in Liverpool, completely free, at least 10 times better than Michael Keane and with plenty of Premier League experience that ought to have satisfied Dyche.

A two-year contract would have been a no-brainer and would have allowed us to spend that £15m O'Brien money on full backs.

Is that the guy that's still completely unemployed and only just come back from a cruciate injury at the age of 33?

I believe he's been injury-free for a good while now (was back in full training at easter), although yes it's on the back of a big injury. Maybe he'd have considered a one year deal with an option for a second - less risk. 33, spring chicken in a Dyche team that.

Wouldn't know this mate, Everton fan over here. Online it says he came back end of June.

Just a quick Google and granted not fully fit but back in training then and no mention of any recurrance. Anyway, moot point, we didn't go in for him, maybe too risky, but I'm maintaining given that's all the money we had available it could have been spent so, so much better and we're already massively suffering for it.

He was never very good. Cant imagine getting him at 33 would be smart business.

Agree with you tho same as getting pace on the wings was needed this season was another window of being left short by the club. Also was prob down for looking for a sale of holgate/keane that did not happen. Is the thing for rb now that when patterson is fit he has to put him in the side or what is the point now

You’re right, but I don’t think he’d have come here, bit of a hero with them.
