In 2020, Manchester City scored 102 goals, they finished 2nd to Liverpool, who scored 85 goals.

Liverpool scored 20 less goals and gained 18 more points.

That's only 2.68 goals/match. If they had a better striker and scored 6 goals per match, they would have won the league.

I’m not getting into an argument with people on a forum.

If you want to fine tune my assertion, then replace “striker” with “goal scorer”. Same net result, goals win everything.

Also, it appears that Fergie might have been repeating a German saying.

Also this..

You can’t win anything without goals.

Winning the league is about having a good defence across all 38 games. Staying in the league is about winning games you need to by scoring goals.

Teams that don’t score don’t stay up, or they don’t stay up comfortably.

Stop comparing the needs of us and teams challenging for a title.

Goals win games - something we lacked horribly last season.

So, in the transfer thread, we have decided that scoring goals in a football match is important. We have also determined that not conceding goals is also important. It's this level of analysis that keeps me coming back day after day.

Score more goals than the other team. Someone put that in a song and sing it at matches.
