I get that, but our general strategy needs to revert to the days when we were signing the likes of Cahill and Lescott rather than Iwobi and Gomes. Good young players on the way up rather than failures after mugs willing to give them an inflated contract.

I’d normally agree but I think Richarlison goes into his last year if he doesn’t leave this summer, and DCL is probably at the highest valuation he’d be. I’d much rather sell both and buy some forwards who can link up and interplay,
I don’t want what happened with Ross Barkley where we missed selling him for 40 or 50 mill, he then gets injured and has a disinterstsed season with us and goes for 15.

I think people expect him to be a Baines/Digne type. He won’t be from what I’ve seen so far, but once he settles into the prem (it took Vidic, Skrtel, Agger, Ivanovic Evra etc a while) I think he’ll be solid defensively and decent in possession. Might give Patterson a license to roam down the other flank which is basically the reverse of how we’ve been attacking for the past 10 years.
