I remember Barkley not pulling up trees at Champo level before playing well for us. Loans at poor clubs can’t always be a good benchmark of player ability.

He looks tenacious and snidey and he’s Scottish, which often makes a good Everton player. Sign me up.
Yeah harry kane didn't really distinguish himself when he was on loan for Leicester but it provided him with experience to hone his game.

Good example. I think where you have someone like Conor Gallagher who is capable but just not as good as the other stellar options in the Chelsea squad, a slight drop down in quality is great because he has the chance to stand out and get minutes. Where you have those arbitrary loans to lower league clubs for nothing really more than fitness reasons, it rarely tells you much about the player.

He also just doesn't fit at all. He's excelling at Palace as the furthest forward of a midfield three. Chelsea play 3-4-3 and none of the roles in it really even remotely resemble what he's doing so well right now. Even if he's better than say Kovacic the way Kovacic plays makes way more sense both for Chelsea and honestly for Gallagher as it doesn't really make sense to shoehorn into something that doesn't take advantage of his best attributes.

Now to bring this on topic he would make a lot of sense for us if we're going to keep being a 4-3-3 team and God willing that is what we'll keep doing.

Wonder if Nathan Broadhead will be sold this summer or brought back into the squad. 24, 1 year left and just hit double figures for Sunderland despite a fair amount of absence due to injuries.
Can’t really see him making it in the Prem at 24 plying his trade in League 1 but wonder what sort on ££ he might go for.

Gallagher himself was on loan at WBA last season, in fact this is second season out on loan in the PL. No one remembers him there, though he grew into second half of last season. He had a season long loan in the championship the year before that at Charlton. He hasn’t really come from no where at Palace, hes had three years of development in first team football, one in the Championship and two full seasons in the PL. Hes last seasons Billy Gilmour.

Sell Dcl to Arsenal for £60m to balance the book. Give Richy and Mina new contracts. Any extra funds from the sale goes to the budget. Sell Holgate too.
