Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

we seem to go for rebuiding the spine of the team every year. Fix the spine and then rotate others arounfd that.
I don’t think we have really rebuilt the spine for a while really otherwise we wouldn’t still be stuck with Mina who can play 15 games max and Michael Keane who may be the worst defender to ever win an English cap. Here’s hoping we just go sensibly here

I think it is clear that Frank is going to prioritise a DM this summer as he has mentioned it’s a position we are short in that massively impacts our ability to play the way he likes.

Who he will go for in that position another matter but I think that will be the first priority.

I don’t think Mina deserves to be kept on based on injuries and I would also try and get rid of Keane as well.

If we can get in a 28 year old central defender who’s is experienced and a leader, he can play next to some of our other CB’s and I think they’d do well.

I hope we trust Mykolenko and Patterson next season so that would just leave us signing the CB and DM but then having to potentially replace one or both of DCL and Richy.
Maybe he looks at Chelsea and the likes of Gilmour or even Ampadu who has been playing as a DM on loan.

Can see Pickford, DCL and Richy going, I would actually say DCL is more likely to stay of the three because he has had a injury hit season who is going to pay our asking price? The club may decide now isn't the right time to sell. That being said if an Arsenal do come in with a 60+m bid he is off.

These are the savings we can expect ot make on contracts ending this summer.

Delph: Wages 4.16 mill, Amortisation: 3.6 mill, Total: 7.mill p.a.

Gylfi: Wages, 5.2 mill, Amortisation: 8.8mill, Total: 14.10 p.a.

Tosun: Wages 3.12 mill, Amortisation, 4.0 mill, Total: 7.12 mill p.a.

Total scope: 28.22 million.

Miscellaneous: Kenny, Longerman, Begovic - negligible really, but prob take us up to in and around 30 mill in savings.

Last season i make it about 20/25 million. Saved.

So over all its likely we reduced the cost of wages and amortisation of 50-55 million over the last two summers.

Of course we've taken wages on as well in signings, so that overall figure will be less.

Also the fact that we have/will made/make savings in the last four windows - does not mean we have that money to spend.

Its like this:

We recorded a loss of 121 million in our last set or accounts (20/21), we've saved about 50-55 million in costs in the last three transfer windows and the next with contracts expiring, we've taken more costs on, in wages for new players. So even with cost savings, doing the Maths we are still, making significant losses, so the suggestion still is even with savings on contracts expiring we have significant costs still to come down. A significant sale however as we know changes this, likely to a more break even position.

Overall though i definitely wouldn't be getting giddy because some high earners are leaving, i dont think it gives us massive scope. Remember this isn't money coming into the club to be spent, its coming of our losses - which are significant
There should also be funds from player sales

Who’s taking Pickford???? Nobody.

It’s difficult to feel optimistic for next season even if we stay up tbh.
We have a terrible squad, an inexperienced manager and would appear to be in a financial quagmire.

Any potential signing would surely rather join a West Ham, Wolves, Newcastle, Villa Leicester, arguably even a Crystal Palace. Never mind the top 6.

We can’t afford any more bad decisions.
I think the squad is better than we have seen this season
Last year basically the same group of players were chasing Europe all season.
