So you can analyse our current situation in a number of ways.

1) We’re skint - panic.

2) No one wants to come here, or are waiting till later in the window to see if a better option comes along.

3) We’ve learned our lesson and won’t panic by throwing money at players, we won’t blink until we get the right players at the right price and we are in a phase of brinkmanship.

4) Other clubs are finalising their squad to see who they may make availble I.e. Chelsea.

Honestly I’m confident enough we will get deals done, all sounds coming from the owner and manager make me think we’re knee deep in trying to crack a few, it’s like under Moyes, take as long as it takes to get the right ones, we just don’t need anymore players that don’t fit.

Probably a bit of all of them.

I'd add 5- The club are either formally/informally working with the PL on a voluntary basis and we remain a little constricted.

One for the future, perhaps.Scott McKenna 25/26 y/o Nottingham Forest. Left-Sided centre halve. Joined from Aberdeen 3 seasons ago, adjusted to the Championship and helped win the team promotion. 6ft 5, strong, decent pace. I think he has been the fans player of the year last 2 seasons. It’ll be his 1st season in the Premiership, so it’ll be interesting to see how he handles the step up in quality. He’s regularly in the Scotland squad, although admittedly Centre Half is one of the weakest aspects of our squad. But I expect him to become a regular starter in the national team in the near future. Maybe one to keep an eye on and think about taking from Forest if the don’t manage to stay up, and he has done well.

He's an absolute bomb scare. This can't be the level we are pitching at...surely...hopefully

Probably a combination alright mate.. The circumstances may be empowering though, it’s stopping us from being like a child running with a scissors in the market.

I’ve been wondering about PL oversight and am coming down on thinking it’s more unlikely than not. They sanctioned the Jan market for us and they would have had a good understanding of what our costs and anticipated losses would have been to June and we’re happy enough with that. If they’ve accepted our losses for profit and sustainability as compliant we have about 20 mill scope.

We've since sold Richarlison, we have 25 mill in the chamber for Kean, the one thing that might give the PL the wobbles is the loss of the USM money, I believe it was paid last financial year, but not this new one. My take is we may have a bit more leeway than we did in the last two windows, just my opinion though.

He was a bit of a bomb scare but seems to have found his feet and seems more composed since his move to the Championship. Took a season to adapt after his move to Forest, was out with injury for a decent bit of it too. According to their fans he’s been solid and their most consistent performer over the last 2 seasons and a major reason why they won promotion. He’s still 25 years old, young for a centre half. As I said it’ll be interesting to see how he copes with the step up. Maybe he won’t be good enough? He does have all the physical attributes, height, strength, pace to be a good centre half.

I think we remain close this season if no further sales happen (but thereafter are in much better situations).

The PL relationship was voluntary, and in a quid pro quo, the club may feel it best to continue to work closely with the league. You're right, the league cant dictate anything to us, as no rules have been broken, but I just wonder if both parties are working closely.

Can the club account for the Kean fee now?

Could be wrong but haven’t the conditions for Kean’s obligation been met already?

Nope.

A statement from Juve said the club have agreed to a loan deal, expiring in 2023, for €7m from Everton and then an obligation to sign if Kean meets various objectives by the end of the 2022-23 campaign. The fee if the move is made permanent would be an initial €28m, payable over a three-year period, plus a further €3m in add-ons.
