Why?

We have Mina & Tarkowski to start at CB. Holgate as first man off the bench. If we start with 3 CBs (shudder) then we still have Godfrey and even Keane on the bench.

No need for Mykolenko to ever play CB.

Most teams that master 3 at the back put a full back in the back 3.
It allows balance (mykos left foot) and more composure coming out with the ball.
Its an option

So I wake up to see Dave suggesting we’re loaning in a LB with the below career history.

Is coming in on loan to allow Mykolenko, with the below career history, to go replace Patterson on the right lol how obsessed can you get with one player.

Subjectively however, we have almost no freedom to spend and desperately need central midfielders (plural) and a right-sided attacker. I suspect the funds available don't stretch to a left back as well, especially one that we purchase solely to make sure another one of our 47 CBs doesn't play.

Dave has watched Patterson once last season and in 3 pre season games and that is apparently watching him enough to know everything about him. He got rinsed in the Patterson thread so he has brought it here.

We may be on the verge of selling a centre half and this allows us to utilise Myko their and funds go towards other positions.

It provides us with plenty of options.

It would be a loan with option. So almost nothing to eat into the budget for other positions.

It does really though. Apart from the wages and loan fee, it uses up one of our two outside the Prem loan spots. As we can only loan two from the Prem and two from outside and bearing in mind we are potless, it would be stupid to use one of these spots on a left back, when there are so many positions screaming out for players

The deal reported is a loan which will have minimum impact on our ability to sign players for our main areas of need, and being international doesn’t impact our domestic loan quota.

It may or may not open up the option of Myko at LCB but the main thing it does is provide a low cost backup for Myko which might not be the *main* thing we need but given we started multiple games last season with Kenny at LB and even he has gone, really is something we should have.

If we get Cornet, he can cover there as well. Did nearly a full season at LB in France due to inuries. But can also cover the front 3 positions. He would be a better option for me
