Losing Richy was an inevitable blow but with the addition of Gueye I think we are overall in a better position: lost our best forward but arguably gained our best defender and our best midfielder, plus a promising (but also first team ready) winger and a backup for a position we were light. All with minimal outlay and still with our two domestic loans intact.

A very solid start and if we use whatever remaining budget we have sensibly and the two loans wisely as teams try to get players out late on and it could be a properly good window.
The issue is goals. Take Richy’s contribution out and there is not much there. Will need a breakthrough goalscoring season from Gordon/Gray/ McNeil or Dele to roll back the years

They have FFP issues. They got fined for it back in 2018 and are being very careful not to take a hit again.
Is their turnover really that bad? It looks to me like they sold a ton of players in the last couple of years for very profitable windows. They may think that they're better off pulling a Norwich, and they may be right, but it looks like they could scrap to stay up if they wished.
