Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

Simon Jones of the mail online said this morning we weren't interested mate.

I tend to believe we are just the first club Chelsea players are linked with now when they want shut.

Especially anything suggesting a loan, unless it's Broja, Gallacher or someone like a Pulisic I call bs on it.

Think that loan spot is being held till late to see what becomes available after they do more business.

Almost get the feel with this and Barkley, that it's the same pattern of reporting.

They offer the player, We have interest, club is willing to deal, we're in talks, then we not interested, and finally the player wants the move.

Still think it's us approaching about certain players in certain positions, them saying as of now no, then them saying 'how about xyz'.

From memory it's how we got Lukaku, approached about Ba, got knocked back but they offered Lukaku.

Still think the Chelsea angle will be the most fascinating one, think we will get a couple from there - but who is the big question still.

Reckon there's probably 4-5 names we have that could or are available and we are just hoping the right deal is doable later on for a couple.

Gallacher, Pulisic, Broja, Gilmore and Cowill - think all of those and likely a couple more we'd like and in that order so it's a case of waiting to see if any pop available in deals we can manage

The profits they’ve made on Kante, Mahrez and Maguire alone should have had them sitting quite pretty. Must have gone bananas on wages or something.

No doubt they’ll flog Maddison, Tielemans and Schmeichel and be financially ok but they’ll be dark horses for the drop IMO.
Dark Horses? LOL. They have a very very good team. Much better than Everton!

…agree, I certainly got the impression Barkley was being pushed by Chelsea and his own representatives & it could be the same with Batshuayi. Neither are in demand so try and create interest.

I’d be very surprised if we don’t have a striker on our shopping list. Going into the season with a fragile DCL is almost suicidal. I wonder if the strikers we’re interested in are mainly ‘proven’ or ‘potential’.

Potential is easier to attract with limited minutes if DCL stays fit, experience who cone knowing that means they're happy not playing much (always a bad sign).

I'm slightly interested why we have decided to buy Gueye rather than loan, unless maybe we have an idea to try loan off them. I'd have tried for Kalimuendo from them actually - looks talented, not wanted, produced two years in a row on loan and still only 20. Think he's been getting linked with Leeds this week

Looks like we will get Gana on a permanent deal - all but done according to Fab - and I suspect that apart from a loan or two much later in the window that's us done.

You've got to wrap DCL up in cotton wool and pray he doesn't get an injury because the replacement doesn't bear thinking about.

…I suspect the two-year permanent deal was in the interest of all 3 parties. I suppose Gueye could’ve been eyeing a lucrative Bosman next summer, but this gives him & his family 2 years of certainty in an area he knows and was settled in.

For PSG, he’s off their books and they will recoup a smallish transfer fee. For us, we know he can hit the ground running, he knows the club, the fans will welcome him, the 2 year contract is reasonable to secure the deal, and it still gives us scope in loan market.

interesting point re Kalimuendo, watch this space.

Let’s see if that’s true once the window closes. Losing their keeper, best CM, CB and AM is going to decimate the spine of their team. I’ll defo be having a cheeky little fiver on them going down.
There's ten of their first team squad (two are Schmeichel and Tielemans) whose contracts are up next summer, with little sign of that being resolved.

Unless they sell, it looks as if they won't be adding to their squad any time soon, and you'd suspect that some of that money will go to new contracts.

@FOXINPEACE would be the man to tell us the inside information.

Seen a couple of stories saying we are interested in Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajourque. Saw him play for Strasbourg a couple of years ago. Big target man with a reasonable goalscoring record.
He's 28 though.
Not sure how much truth there is in it.

Apparently we sent scouts to watch Strasbourg beat Liverpool at anfield yesterday and they were there to watch 6ft 6 striker Ludovic Ajorque. He is rumoured to be available for £18m, could be an alternative to Batshuayi.

I'd go for Kalimuendo personally offer them a loan fee with an obligation to buy next season higher than what they're being offered by West Ham and Leeds.

We actually have had a decent recent relationship with PSG - the Gueye sale and Kean loan and seems Gueye coming back - all negotiations went well and fir a change we actually didn't get low balled by them but seemed to just be a professional deal.

Kalimuendo 3-4m loan fee - obligation for 20m with add-ons included (think Leeds have bid 17m west ham linked at 20.

Just rumours but the player apparently wasn't keen on Newcastle as a project (maybe realises that anyone they sign risks being replaced due to the money they have access too)

I'd hope at least that his name was brought up during negotiations over Gueye.

Just googled "everton strasbourg" and there's some random jarg tweet from 27th July by someone I believe is a fake, joke acct saying we had a bid of 26.5m accepted and he will be in Merseyside for his medical this week.
