Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

Just googled "everton strasbourg" and there's some random jarg tweet from 27th July by someone I believe is a fake, joke acct saying we had a bid of 26.5m accepted and he will be in Merseyside for his medical this week.
It does seem unlikely.

Its an interesting lifecycle though isn’t it, Im watching what’s going on at Leicester, they seem to need to sell, before investing to progress, at what point does the growth cycle stop. At what point do you fly to close to the sun.

Brentford are year 2 of PL money, so essentially loads of head room to increase cost, costs slowly rise and you reach a tipping point, after a few seasons.

It’s one of the hardest things to do to stay in PL and become an established club, our record is actually incredible.

Having said that we've flown very close to the sun, flew over it and prob heading back up for our second flight.
Brentford would be relegated without erikksen last year, they have no erikksen this season so I'm not sure I'd be getting too excited about them just yet

@Eggs whst u really like is at 20 he's already physically 'built' got pace seems equally comfortable dropping for the ball or hitting the 6y box, technically good (PSG so what you'd expect) different to DCL but that's a good thing imo as gives a different option

…mmm, could be ideal. Looked predominantly left footed but takes his penalties with his right, i like strikers who are comfortable on both sides.

Scoring record on loan to Lens isn’t startling but it was progressive, scored a decent ratio last season. Good physicality, powerful although no great height. Young lad, could be anything & he’ll get games here.

But their a well run club with sellable assets.

We've spent over £500m on players then put them on crazy contracts and we cant give them away.

Exactly. They have about 10 players that they can treble their investment on. Easily. We have about 10 players bought for about £300m we cannot give away for free with us contributing towards their wage. They will be looking at that squad thinking they need to sell now otherwise they're losing a lot of talent for free in one year. Time to sell and invest savvily and hope they stay up this year.

Have we been linked to him?

Yeah he’s 28 and hardly prolific, this would make no sense

Yup kinda mirrors my thinking, just looks to have something about him on the eye test too, like his close control as well, seems to 'know' what he's doing with the ball before doing it (not like some when it almost seems random what happens like Traore, Bolasie Paolo Wanchopp types).

Like the fact that the club that had him on loan took him back the next season too - usually a sign that he was a good character to have around the team.

For That fee though a lot of upside and as shown in the past - even if he doesn't settle you'll likely make most if not all of it back

When you look at their transfer record overall they’ve thrown in a few stinkers and increasingly so in recent years. They have a good few sellable assets to keep them afloat so they’ll be ok but as we know the more you spend on stinkers (30 mil for Ayoze Perez!) the more it forces you to shift the good ones.

I imagine one or both of Maddison or Fofana will be picked off by bigger clubs this summer in the name of profit & sustainability. It’s almost as if those rules exist to help the bigger clubs do just that.

Nope mate, was more he's surplus at PSG linked to a few Orem clubs who are after him and we are currently finalizing a deal with PSG fir Gueye, so wondered if he'd come up during it...

We need a striker - we seemingly pulled our interest in both Broja and Batshuayi and the guts available at a club we are currently talking too.

Shame. Remember seeing him linked with Leeds. Would like us to invest in a young prospect like that

Any £15m+ striker is not coming here.

Why not mate, we're spending more than that on McNeil, we offered more than that for Cornet and MGW.

PSG are likely very open to a favourable deal in regards to payments as well given they literally have zero need for big up front payments

Well we've spent that on McNeil. Do you think we now have that to spend again on a backup striker?
