Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

Always think when a side earned promotion it's a mistake to tear it up and basically bring a new starting 11 in almost, what gets a lot of sides up in large part is a team spirit that you're basically getting [Poor language removed] off.

Yeah you need to add to the team a bit of quality else you do a Norwich but a complete change never seems to go well.
I normally agree with that idea but to be fair to Forest it's a bit different for them because they've lost 6/7 key players from the side that got them up so they were always going to have to replace them anyway.

Southampton CEO on Guevara:

“Ninety per cent of what you see in the media is not true,” Semmens told the BBC Radio Solent fans’ forum. “The fact that Everton are trying to take our striker on loan. It’s not real, it won’t happen, don’t worry about that.

“From our perspective, we are massively comfortable with everyone we bring in. Everybody’s here and we look forward to working with them. I’ll let Ralph (Hasenhüttl, manager) answer in a minute about team selection but we will always do what is right.

“And if somebody leaves the club, we’ll do it for the right reasons. But I wouldn’t get too worried about an agent and Sky Sports and Twitter because most of those things aren’t true, as you probably see because most of the players we’ve signed you’ve not heard of until we actually do it.”

Seen that this morning on the transfer rumour sweep….
Gives me hope that we sign someone really good that hasn’t been linked…..

I understand where you're coming from but this really is a massive leap. We've added a couple of good solid PL centre halves on frees and loans, I'm not sure why some people want to pretend we've signed Van Dijk and Dias. We'll have to see how the unit works, whether the midfield offers enough protection, whether the 2 wing backs can do that job properly etc. I've seen a few people talking about the defence as if it's going to be impregnable but it's massively jumping the gun.
I understand where you are coming from too. to be fair though I dont think our defence needs to be Van Dijk /Diaz level. Just not being terrified of the ball coming into our penalty area will do me and I think our signings will give us that. Probably horribly wrong, my record with these things isnt exactly stellar, but I have always thought our defence (indeed our entire team) has suffered mostly from a lack of leadership. i am absolutely certain we have that now, so I am living in hope :)

they had no other choice tbf

They’re really going for it…..
How many new players is that? 14?
I presume most of the players that got them up have been sidelined. Well worth it if they stay up.
Hopefully we are getting them at a good time a week on Saturday. They’ll barely even have memorised each other’s names let alone have knit together a cohesive team. The one thing they have in their favour with this strategy is the mid season World Cup giving them effectively a second pre season.

Something that goes unacknowledged is that he looked fitter and sharper toward the back end of the season and he contributed. Im curious to see him now in a possible run of game with a preseason behind him. Full tilt hes a pain to play against.
I hope you are right but he was playing in China for a reason he's past it. I said this when we signed him people were clutching at straws at saying he was a good backup remembering his time at WBA but that was years ago. We saw what he had last season it's not much.

They've gone way, way over the top. I understand they lost key loan players last season that needed replacing but Cooper is going to basically have a full squad of people he doesn't know, that don't know each other, it could (and am expecting it to) all go horribly wrong.
Agree it reeks of Fulham a few years ago

Not finished yet either, going back in for Garner if reports are to be believed and also some Ukrainian guy at Atalanta.
