Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

Need to sell Gordon first...

Wouldn't surprise me if the Gana situation will "resolve" itself as soon as Gordon is sold.

If we do need to sell gordon to get forwards, then obviously we have no other option.

But that begs the question, why was a forward not signed using the Richarlison cash? Why did we target other positions? Are we actually that incompetent?

Said on the Gordon thread, the deal has to include Broja coming the other way otherwise we will be rinsed by other clubs if we go for a striker, maybe we get Broja plus cash, but it will take the pressure off buying urgently.
(not sure how good Broja is tbh but we’re in such a shambolic state)

If we sell for the figures being quoted, then this is the ultimate test of the board and KT.

Do they have a plan? Can they come up with one in the moment? Do they understand our priorities? Can they make the right deals at the right price?

They've got 9 days, so they've made this very difficult for themselves and our survival in this league rests on how they reinvest, assuming this deal is happenning.

Will the increase in sale price improve the quality of player we'll be interested in, as some claim? Not sure. Not fussed on anyone we've been linked with.
It would widen the FFP bandwidth for future years.

The problem I see with this is that Gordon won’t be on big salary so bringing in multiple players in the back of this would be dependant on getting a couple of high earners out as well.

It’s the last throw of the dice for Everton who’ve tried and failed at every permutation since Moshiri came in. This is the FFP golden egg get out that will allow Thelpard (TM) to secure the players they want and kick start a new era of Everton. On one hand we’ve shown that having money means nothing much but on the other selling Rooney spurred a decade of consistency without having the talent like Rooney to get it over the line and win something tangible.

If this throw of the dice fails then we all gotta accept relegation really. My heart is ready and the thread titles are already prepared.
