When it comes down to it, we sign relegated players because they tend to be the ones available. We probably aren't pinching the best Wolves or West Ham players - but you might manage it with Burnley or Watford - and that is the next rung down.

It seems strange we don't look to the Championship a bit more though - Moyes seemed to do that well with Cahill etc.

They don't seem to trust themselves signing players from foreign leagues - and to be honest, when you look at choices like Klaasen, Ramirez, Gbamin, Keane, Bernard, Niasse etc. you can see why.

I can understand a certain reluctance, but they cannot cut off these leagues as sources of potentially better and cheaper players. We will do ourselves a massive disservice if we approach player scouting in such a limited and restricted manner.
