I dont even rate Pickford.

Ive said, if we can sell him we should, due to the fee he would attract, but we wont replace him with a better Keeper.

He was great last season, but hes matured a lot, hes entering his prime shortly, he will probably still make mistakes, but most if not all Keepers do.
I mean, it's possible we could. He's a REALLY great shot stopper. Like upper echelon tier. But why couldn't we get Dean Henderson in on loan for 2 years or something? He's got to want to play.

Some of this will be contradictory, but I'll give my thoughts.

I think we need a 6, but wonder if Zinchenko might be what we are looking for. Look at what we had Delph do. Sit in front of the back 4, take possession and recycle it. A pivot essentially. It's gone it of the game a bit, but it seems Lampard wants this player. Linked with Gilmour and Winks too, who essentially do this job.

Doucoure is a funny one to me. His best performances have come in a 3. It doesnt seem to matter what role, but a 3 suits him. He could also be a 6, in the way he did against Palace, where we just left him to cover the space. Or he could play better forward. Getting the beat out of him is going to be important next season though.

As for Zinchenko, I just wonder if Lampard wants him to do what Delph did a bit for us. Just use his ability on the ball and have him as that pivot to build the team around?

He should do that mate, Zinchenko is way better than a peak Delph imo.

I see Dacoure starting for us next season, think we won't be able to bring in a whole new midfield and at his best Dacoure is very good (just not so much when alongside someone who can't run) he just isn't ever a player whose gonna be a good distributor though so important he's sorry need by 1-2 who can do that.

To summarise today's chat for anyone who is just checking in, it's predominantly people arguing about who would be a worse signing Cornet, Dennis or McNeill, which reserve team or recently relegated goalkeeper should replace Pickford even though most of the same people seem to agree that Pickford won't be sold, a weak link to Choudhury at Leicester and a fresh link to Zinchenko.

Save yourself the 10 pages or so.

There is. But Pickford has only recently risen to that challenge.

28 years old and at his maximum markey valiue. Get shut if we can and buy a new GK like Pope and spend elsewhere.

That's the type of good house keeping we haven't seen but now need to see.

Pope is 2 years older than Pickford and would not be cheap

How do think this would balance mate:

Dele- Zinchenko-Doucoure.

Think we need to loose a few bodies in the engine room, Gomes & Gbamin.

I think you'd want Zinchenko on the left of the three mate, also has him being the guy who'll link up with Mykolenko too which would be best as they have the same for the national side

Dele is a weird one, hard to find exactly where he'll fit in. I guess in a 4-3-3 as wide Left, 5-3-2 off DCL maybe

Certainly not in a midfield 3.

Unless as a 10 flanked by 2 DMs.

I see where you are coming from. I happen to think Delph could have been very good, but was probably never fully fit. Barry is probably a good comparison too, buit getting Barry at age 25 rather than 31 or whatever we got him at. You have to be very good to get in a side that has been 95+ points 4 out of the last 5 seasons or whatever it is, even as a fringe player.

As for Doucoure, I still think he can be a key man, but unlocking how to get the best from him is important. You can structure a team that the 6 you just want a destroyer, similar to what Doucoure did v Palace, but it seems quite obvious Lampard wants someone who can distribute the ball. You sort of see that from him trying Van Der Beek in there. With Doucoure, you have to find a way to let him off the leash. In fairness to Benitez, he kind of utilised Doucoure brilliantly at the start of the season, and his injury was probably the key moment where it all fell apart.

From memory him getting injured is when it went a bit tits up for Carlo too

I hope with Dele, we do what we did against Palace with him, play him in the middle and give him the freedom of the pitch. The issue is, he is inconsistent and would to be persevered with. The other issue is that either Gallacher comes in and takes that spot, or Iwobi gets a go, who has been very good in there. He probably isn't as good as Alli, but he is more consistent. So that's a tough one.
