Garner to be confirmed soon, think it'll be Brereton Diaz and then a late push for Kudus again. Unreal window if that's the case, I do think Diaz will make the most sense though, won't need a work permit or anything like that and will most likely be the cheapest to negotiate with wage wise. Could also try to send Cannon the other way or something like that if they wanted him on loan.
Agree, if Maddock is right and we’re still discussing two strikers I’d bet Diaz is one- it may well be the other is preferred and Diaz the fallback. He’s just up the road so can afford to go quite late on him. Cannon or even Rondon going the other way might ease the deal.

Comparing second half of last season to first half of this season.....

Patterson is a big improvement on near retirement Coleman

Tarks and Coady a big upgrade on centre back partnership of last season

Gana, Onana and Garner make sure we dont see Gomes, Davies (much) and Allan (much). Even Doucoure will struggle for game time.

Up front, swapping Richie for Maupay is downgrade but Richie missed a lot of games last season for various reasons and only caught fire at the death. Mc Neil strikes me as a poor shot on the recruitment front. But Gordon is incomparable to what he was last season.

It is hard to imagine Dominic Calvert-Lewin missing as much as he did last season and if he gets fit and plays, it is a paradigm shifter. Townsend on one leg is a quality crosser for Dominic Calvert-Lewin come Halloween.

There might be a bit of logic in not going bananas because with the world cup, there are only 11 playing weeks to the next window.

It would be great to get a wide forward or two in but if Lampard gets the system right with a 4-3-3, we will be fine until we add one or two in January.

If he insists on 5-3-2, we will be in trouble regardless.

That is the real danger now.
agree with most but still remember Richy scored more than 10 goals and often crucial games in crucial moments. And DCL hasnt been the striker since Anchelotti left. It is not like when he is back we suddenly have our Harrie Kane back and the goals will flow in straight away. We still need a goalscorer as certainly the McNeill signing has mystified all of us. In terms of goalscoring thread we are much weaker (DCL injuries and probably Maupay only the back up. Besides it feels like a brand new upgraded car with only bad tyres at the front. So come on Kev/Bill PLEASE !!!!!!
