That might be true but the problem is he is no different of a player he was when the Leeds attempted signing happened. The difference of course is now you are paying an inflated Manchester United by association price. All while he hasn't provided a large enough sample, gotten older and isn't now a value proposition the way he was at Swansea.
I just think we fall for this two often looking for cast offs of larger clubs and don't look elsewhere where value is at least afforded for similar risk. Look at the like of Christos Tzolis to name one player as an option comparatively who despite playing in Greece is possibly a higher end prospect currently and would likely be a bet at a far cheaper risk.
A loan is a different question but we should be looking at teams below us either in resources internationally or below us in position or table more often than we do.
