Everton Summer transfers 2021

Agreed, but my point is that we’re not spending those sort of fees anyway on anyone. We’ve done it once in our history for Siggurdson, the big six are doing it every window now.

Im not saying you can’t get good players for cheaper, or that we haven’t wasted money in the last, or that 40 mill is guaranteed to get you a good player. Im talking about the level of investment to compete with the teams at the top. They are dropping our record transfer fee (plus) on multiple players. We are giving Carlo 60 mill as long as he moves on Kean and Walcott. We need to be giving Benitez a lot more season on season to close this gap.

This won’t be lost on Benitez. He will state that our midtable budget should lead to midtable expectations, and you can’t really argue with that.

At Valencia he used 4231
At Napoli he used 4231
At Real he used 433
At Newcastle he used 541
in China he varied between 4231 and 343

personally I think he will try and develop our style similar to how he did with Valencia and Newcastle making us into a counter-attacking side against the top sides and as a possession team with solid defence against the other sides.

potential team:-

---------------------------Pickford--------------------------

(New Right Back)---Keane / Mina -----Godfrey-----Digne

------------------Doucoure------Allan----------------------

(New Right Winger)------(New CAM)----------Richarlison

----------------------------DCL------------------------------

i think Kean will go back to PSG on loan and Rodriguez will leave us for AC Milan

we've been linked heavily in the past with Dumfries at right back

we need a creative attacking right winger and a creative attacking central attacking midfielder

we've been linked in the past with adama troare and allan saint maximim but i honestly think we could get better value for money if we looked abroad i.e. bailey from leverkusen or berardi from sassuolo.

the hardest position to get will be that CAM role. We need a player who is similar to Bruno Fernandes but for half the price. someone like rodrigo de paul could be attainable. There is also pedro goncalves from sporting lisbon and zielinski from Napoli.

Maybe benitez will raid some spanish clubs and bring in some youth players we've never heard of. Who knows.

its really important that we bring in those 3 key players before the season starts though.
We also need another striker and keeper. Otherwise we will remain with very few options off the bench.

One real positive about Benitez is there will be no swallowing broken promises and lack of investment. He'll go public at the first whiff of any shenanigans. I don't think it'll come to that, though. I very much doubt he signed up to be given another Mike Ashley-style budget. He knows full well that only tangible success can keep him in the job given the climate around him. And success doesn't come on a shoestring.

Really hope we can pull it off this window get 5/7 players in atleast. With is hopefully getting rid of more players, feel that we must bring in two wingers to the club and maybe another cf
I fully expect the old ‘ the new manager wants to assess the squad before we buy’.
I don’t expect many signing at all.

Maybe I am too optimistic, but I think it's different with Rafael. He's clearly had his eyes on this job for a while. He wanted it when we picked Carlo and has been unemployed since. He's been in Liverpool and knows Everton's squad.

I think he will know exactly what he needs to do - whether or not the board, Moshiri, Brands, etc. agree and are able to pursue those same objectives remains to be seen.

Same is clear this team needs pace

Like most managers he has a big ego and will think he's the one to get the best out of the underperforming, expensive duds in the squad.
Thats my fear, when they just just be bombed out asap!

No doubt. And I don't mean to suggest everything Rafael wants to do will be the correct moves.

I just think he knows this specific team better than Carlo, Marco, Big Sam, Koeman, etc. knew it before they took over. And I would guess Rafael is far more prepared to act than those others.

If Olsen stays, we don't need another keeper. Pickford looks like he could win goalkeepers prize at the Euros, and will carry his form into next season. There has been an obvious upgrade in his play over the last 18 games or so(12 clean sheets?)

Interesting that now that Rafael has actually signed, people are beginning to mention the good points of his coaching. I was very sceptical at first, but am warming to what he might be able to achieve at Everton. He certainly doesn't need whatever money we are paying him, and I assume the Carlo resigned thered=fore no compensation paid, another benefit to us.

This won’t be popular but hey neither was/is Benitez! I think we should go get Dan James from Utd. Boy has lethal pace and will be keen to prove a point now they’ve bought Sancho in.
Traditionally, players with something to prove do better for us…
