Why, is that what the rumour says?
Are you an accountant? We dont even know the structure of the deal, never mind our transfer budget. The transfer fee matters because there’s A LOT of players we need to buy to improve the team, and we won’t be able to afford them if we spend £50m on one in a position we’re not desperate for.
Sorry, I meant players in general rather than one individual.Career progression. He's 23, would be playing for a much bigger side than Brighton, would be hitting his peak in four years where playing for a club like Everton is more likely to generate the move to a massive club.
It's the same reason it makes sense for Calvert-Lewin to stay for another few years.
He's the exact profile of player we should be looking at to be honest. Age around 23-24, big potential, massive profit opportunity for the club.
What makes you think anyone on this earth would pay £30m for Holgate?
Think it actually say 30 million over the five years and 20 million up front
White is proper, proper quality. The prospect of him and Godfrey as long term centre-halves for Everton is very appealing.
He's one of those players who are good at everything, extremely reliable, reads the game well.
I'd have no problem with this transfer whatsoever, except... it's not really the priority position. As bad as Michael Keane is, we have much worse in other areas. So if it's an 'either/or' scenario in terms of spending big money this summer, I'd much prefer us to bring in players in positions of weakness like wide right/left, central midfield and right back.
If we're just going to laugh at FFP and spend whatever, which is what I think we should do, then Ben White for £50m is almost a no brainer.
English premium, premier league club established player and under 25?
It's cos mings is older and white plays for brightonJust a question on White mate, why is he not ahead of Mings in the cue for England? The price seems huge for him, like for us to make any money on him (if we wanted to he would probably have to go in to go onto be VVD levels of good, or at a worst case Maguire levels of good. Would people put him in the bracket?
You are right to say as well it's probably the last priority for the team currently. Mina is our best CB is we can keep him fit and I have a feeling Benitez will like Michael a lot (quite similar to Carragher/Hypia), Godfrey is very good and while Holgate has been written off, he's the age Benitez tends to like players in that range.
If we were splashing 50m on a CB I would expect some spending splurge.
English premium, premier league club established player and under 25?No, I mean the Holgate part.
Because that £50m should be spent elsewhere. Gk, Rb, CM, LW, RW, CF..... unless Usmanov is writing a blank cheque?
All accountants on here, didn’t you know ?Are you an accountant? We dont even know the structure of the deal, never mind our transfer budget.

Absolutely thinking the same. This story can’t be true, Brighton leak to try and bump up his price tag. Would be criminal to be spending 50 million on a centre back when the state of our creative/attacking options is so poor. Whatever the budget is, it needs spent there! If we’re spending 50 mill on a player I’d hope it would be an attacking one. We have Calvert who has plenty of bad spells, richarlison that last season looked half the player he was. Other than that our options are iwobi, Bernard and sig with Rodriguez most likely being off. Could have the best defence in the world and we’d still finish mid table at best with them options.
rebuilding the terrible squad we have is going to take 3-4 transfer windows, absolute must we need a first team RB, CDM/CM, wingers and a backup forward. Hoping we focus on them first then rebuild elsewhere.
