Holgate,Stones,Loughman,Branthwaite, Vlasic ?
Would they not be similar?

No not really mate. I’m talking about players signed from the Championship for cheapish fees to go straight into the first team. Lookman cost £11m, Vlasic cost around the same and was signed from a Europa League side. Branthwaite is still an unknown, we don’t know how that’ll turn out. Holgate isn’t very good.

To be honest I would prefer to be short than have some of the current wasters taking money each month for no return
You say you’d prefer it, but if it actually happened you would be gutted! All of your strides need turning up and you have to ask other blokes to get the tit mags off the top shelves for you in WH Smiths.

Moyes could deffo spot lower league talent. Those signings have dried up since he left though.
Not just lower English leagues either but also the lesser leagues abroad. He's still pulling it off now with West ham. Souchek and coufel. Jarrod bowen too although he cost them a fair bit.

Our academy needs looking at with regards to quality coming through as well.

But we don’t want to upset Unsworth I suppose.
There is a rancid stench of complacency from the U23/Reserve/B squad. Bloated squad size, extraordinarily long contracts for players who have shown little chance of ever breaking through. And nobody held accountable for 5+ years of this stasis. The sense of untouchability of the man in charge is palpable too.

And no other club cares about winning PL2 or whatever its called. A cull from the top down and restart button pressing badly needed there.

You should go give the Youth Teams thread a read and you'll see that nearly everything you've just said isn't happening, is in fact happening.
EDIT: And vice versa too!

This year is 2021. No hidden gems anymore.
Everyone can spot lower league talents.
It's about you wanna take a chance or you wanna take a risk?
Or do you want to stockpile players and have 3 left back or 6 centre back? :p

Most were relegated players...so not sure that we should consider them as championship players as such...dcl yes has been a success.
Not having that though mate. Olise was released from the City academy wasn’t he? We can come up with any kind of caveat we want if we feel like it. Your point was we ignore lower league players. Not true, and if anything buying the ones with PL experience where possible is good sense.

Saying every single one of those came from the championship is disingenuous and I feel like you know that
It is literally true. As I’ve just said to someone else, a lot of the Championship “gambles” you see were players that were with PL academy teams. Where do you draw the line with your classification? People want us to “gamble” so they get five minutes of excitement at an unknown prospect before they boo him to death anyway.
