And ye cannae get rid of Mina for being mistake prone and then go after Lenglet.
The bigger issue is Mina only has 2yrs left. He’s on a big wage, would probably won’t more money abs 5yr deal. He’s off the back of a good tournament, certain countries, Spain like their South American players. So maybe it’s the best time to sell.

Don’t get me wrong I really like Mina abs wouid have him all day over Keane

Give Mina a new contract and sell Holgate.

It's the replacement that has me worried.
Minas injury record is a worry and would look to replace anyway.

That’s fine if the manager sees him as the number one CB moving forward,

While he’s still got improving to do, most see Godfrey as first choice moving forward. Do we want to both Mina & Keane on big money contacts taking them up to 31/32. While not being regulars in the team

I mean do they put that many players in? In the last 10 years I can think of United putting in Rashford, Mctominay and Greenwood as regulars. Arsenal; Saka, Iwobi maybe Wilshire.
At Everton we have had Barkley and Davies.

If there's loads of others who have played say 50+ league games for their team let me know, but seems pretty even to me.

I think we need to do a lot better with younger players, but the club have already given him a debut and sounds like they want(ed) to integrate him into the 1st team. Strange one really.

I hope the lesson learnt from this though is the importance on giving young players opportunities in your 1st team.
Tuanzebe has 37 appearences for United plus another 35 on loan at Villa learning his trade
If you are counting Barkley on ours, you also have to count Jesse Lingard too
Andreas Perrera has played 75 times for United
Brandon Williams has 50 appearance's also
And you also have Dean Henderson who only has 26 games for United but has plenty on his loans building himself up.

A varying degree of talent but all players that if United were to sell they would be making say......... £70 million on them!

With our last crop of really good talent (which we ruined) we ended up with about £3.5m for Kieran Dowell and maybe we will get the same for Kenny!
United players get sold, they fall in the PL for a decent amount, our lot scramble around lower Championship regions as they have stagnated..........because they haven't been given the opportunity at any sort of first team level.

Arsenal by the way have Maitland Niles (121), Bellerin (239), Reiss Nelson (47), Joe Willock (78), Eddie Nketiah (65), Smith Rowe (45) & obviously you mentioned Saka & Iwobi (who they got 30 odd million for)

Again, apart from Bellerin you are looking at 20m each if they were to sell and probably with his trajectory 60 milllion for Saka......almost £200 million!
Now to me, that is a successful academy that has given these players the right opportunity's to do the best they can in there career!

Sending Ellis Simms to Blackpool maybe 18 months too late is not something Thierry Small will be looking at and think he wants to get behind that!
Watching Ryan Ledson, Kieran Dowell & Liam Walsh gradually begin to claw there careers back after being some of the best players in the country at the position at 16-17 is not something Thierry Small will want to emulate

One of the problems with a back 3. Is if you dont have the correct players to play the system, you become a back 5 quite quickly.

The 2 wide CB’s have to be very comfortable being dragged out wide. Godfrey can cope, he also adds pace and running power, maybe needs to improve on the ball a bit. As they need to drive forward at times. And not just all 3 sit in a line. And the left sided would need to great technically, looking at the players we have. Keane in one of the wide roles will never work. Or Holgate who isn’t great on the ball IMO.

Looking at some of the best teams over the last few years who’ve used this system. Chelsea, Spurs under Poch, Pep now and again at city and England, though we’ve seen with Southgate his pragmatic style doesn’t help. But these teams have used a full back as one of the 3 CB’s. I think Digne could definitely play as the left CB’s if we had Godfrey right and Mina centre or a new top class CB.

I’ve said before I’m not sure Digne suits wing back, not fast enough or dynamic enough for me.
Was just about to mention that, but you added it to the end anyway
