Everton Summer transfers 2021

It was a 2 year ban back in 2018 so that's almost a year we haven't had that and only for academy lads.
We could of gone and got anyone we wanted from Ireland, Scotland, the continent!
We could of also kept tabs on anyone (like in the Thierry Small case) about to turn 17 at other clubs and step in with a contract.
We were also aloud to buy or sign anyone from 17 upwards

Its almost as if there's been something stopping people moving around and doing proper scouting at youth level like a pandemic or something for the past year and a half.

Rumour mill in overdrive re: Danny Welbeck to Everton. Brighton will settle for no less than £15m and it is believed the striker will push hard for a move to the Goodison giants.

Another one that reflects badly on Marcel. They're stacking up.

How does this reflect badly on brands? The lad wasn't good enough for the prem and he didn't want to be here after his experience with the club the year before. He didnt want to be he so much he came out in a interview while he was on loan bigging up the RS.

He was a absolute snail and very inexperienced. I never saw anything in the lad to make me think we should go out of our way to keep him.

Hes went to a crap league and done well. We made a profit on him and if reports at the time are to be believed we have a sell on percentage in the deal. If that's true we want him to go for as much money as he can.

I can't believe Brighton would let him go so cheap, and even if they did, why would he come here?

Tuanzebe has 37 appearences for United plus another 35 on loan at Villa learning his trade
If you are counting Barkley on ours, you also have to count Jesse Lingard too
Andreas Perrera has played 75 times for United
Brandon Williams has 50 appearance's also
And you also have Dean Henderson who only has 26 games for United but has plenty on his loans building himself up.

A varying degree of talent but all players that if United were to sell they would be making say......... £70 million on them!

With our last crop of really good talent (which we ruined) we ended up with about £3.5m for Kieran Dowell and maybe we will get the same for Kenny!
United players get sold, they fall in the PL for a decent amount, our lot scramble around lower Championship regions as they have stagnated..........because they haven't been given the opportunity at any sort of first team level.

Arsenal by the way have Maitland Niles (121), Bellerin (239), Reiss Nelson (47), Joe Willock (78), Eddie Nketiah (65), Smith Rowe (45) & obviously you mentioned Saka & Iwobi (who they got 30 odd million for)

Again, apart from Bellerin you are looking at 20m each if they were to sell and probably with his trajectory 60 milllion for Saka......almost £200 million!
Now to me, that is a successful academy that has given these players the right opportunity's to do the best they can in there career!

Sending Ellis Simms to Blackpool maybe 18 months too late is not something Thierry Small will be looking at and think he wants to get behind that!
Watching Ryan Ledson, Kieran Dowell & Liam Walsh gradually begin to claw there careers back after being some of the best players in the country at the position at 16-17 is not something Thierry Small will want to emulate

Yes some interesting names added in there to be fair, although I'm not sure how many have played 50 league games for said team (which I see as a bit of a litmus test).

I think it's broadly similar over long periods, but we have made a bit of a mess over the last 5 years or so. I would also say if you are counting Bellerin, you should probably have to count Stones, Holgate, DCL etc who would likely be sold for 150m+ ish combined (hence why I avoided lads bought in as late teenagers).

I think the loan thing is a big of a misnomer. For a starting point most of the lads above went on loan and didn't progress. We don't have the brand or the quality of team to end up enticing teams to want to take players on loan in the way they do. We are not CL regulars. Our solution has to be that we are braver in giving opportunities to players in our 1st team, and not having them on the loan conveyor belt. Partly as it will help them get loans, but also could they do better than what we have. Are we going to be brave enough to give game time to Gordon and Brainthwaite this season for example? Maybe even Lewis Gibson. I'm not a big fan of Simms but there's probably a case for him too.

That is what German, Dutch, French, Italian etc teams are offering to younger players. A chance to play regularly, for a team where you have a 3-4 year contract. To me that has to start becoming the mindset. We loaned out most of the Ledson age group and it didn't work out well (albeit they got a fee for Robinson too).

I am still not sure why certain young players were not on the bench for fixtures last season, that felt a mistake to me when the spots were left empty.
