We shouldnt be going after him at all, i dont think we could sell Iwobi or Gylfi, i dont see much of a market for either, Gylfi is on a free next year and is on a career appex contrct 0, motivation for him to move or Iwobi for that matter who is here for years more. Tosun maybe, if someone offered him a five year deal, elsewise hes here for the final year and leave on a Bosman hes on a careeer apex contract to - also known as fighting for his place.
The whole of the flanks need improving we need a left back, left winger and right back and right winger, possibly two if Jamo goes. They need to improve the squad, in no way does Townsend do that, even a bit part back up. We need to player trade, Kenny, Bernard, Walcott, Boalsie squad positions. The ones who fill the gap have to be better then what we have lost.
Personally i think we need an alternate for DCL, id go Ings myself, right deal, right age, right time, would improve us.
I highly recommend goading Geordies until 4am if you want to come off twitter mate. It’s the only social media platform I’m on I binned the rest about 8 years ago, seriously thinking about coming off it. Utter poison it is
If we got him in…..“I thought he’d be taller.” Rousing half time speeches though.
Exactly what coutinho did at Liverpool and was considered world class.Same as Neves isn’t he, hammers 18 shots a game from 35 yards and one goes in every now and then
Townsend > Bernard & wages will be much less. But bloody hell, we’re better than this

The Leicester example is nearer our reality, but even then they had a scouting system that was bringing in gems like Kante and Mahrez. We dont have that network. Its one thing to look at certainly mate, but on the other hand there is more to football management then just the players bought and available.
For example look at Tuchel, he came in and won the CL with the same players Lampard was struggling to string two results together with, equally Ranieri came in and won the title with essentially and largely the same squad of players at Leicester who were nearly relegated with Pearson the year before.
Yes its a boost having a war chest and some mitigation if he isn't given any means, but judging wholly on finance to weigh his contribution i think is to narrow. Thats my logical brain speaking.
My emotional brain doesn't want him anywhere near our football club anyway. So im totally biased. lol
Surely 1 going in every now and then is better than none going in, which is where we're at now.
He even can run without falling over his own feet(Bernard, Iwobi look at me). Not Everton material at all. He hisnt a midget either. Brands must be on vacation! No way will we sign Townsend, he likes to go forward with the ball. I can’t remember the last time he got the ball and passed it back to the centre half.
No room for people like that here, no matter what age they are.
The squad is cratered. Running on fumes. Just as it was when Martinez came in. Martinez played a different way and rejuvenated the squad he inherited. Benitez's way is to not be expanisive, so we wont see that. Not a lover of his tactics but in fairness to Carlo he wasn't given a lot to spend and he also spent wisely IMO. The real damage was done under previous managers.
3 players in key positions will give us a team to challenge. We've also lost a lot of deadwood over the last 2 years but still a few more to go. The player situation is probably as good as it's been since Martinez first season.)
