Everton Summer transfers 2021

If we are genuinely in for someone like McNeil, then we are making a big sale.

I am very worried about DCL or Richarlison being sold and being replaced by a non-goal scoring, non-assisting wide player. This summer and this season look like an absolute disaster waiting to happen.

I've not been so frustrated with the direction of the club in my life. Give me a scouting job, give me a grand a week, and give me an FM database and I wouldn't do any worse. That's how bad this is becoming.

Same.

It's startling that we are incapable of scouting/signing anyone who hasn't had any prem experience before, or failing that, has played under the manager before. Very few risks taken.

it wont be DCL if we're buying wingers to cross the ball to him, can see richarlison going but cant think of anyone interested that could currently afford to pay what we'd want.
Our shape has been 433 in both games apparently. I think we're gearing up to throw Richarlison on the right. They'll be trying to offload Iwobi but god knows how

FFS if Mc Neill is true then i give up.
No way should we spend a fortune on him.
No way should we even consider him with Gomes / Sigurdsson / Iwobi still at the club.
There must be better out there than O'Neill

I think we've given up.
It pains me to say this but I actually think we have. It’s getting worse with each rumour. It’s like they’ve gone “well we’ve spunked a load of money on tat, we had a world class manager and look where we are” …”let’s try and conjure a team together out of cast offs from around the PL on a budget and see where that gets us, in the meantime we’ll go and employ an average ex kopite manager to do it”

Jesus Christ this is mind blowingly bad.

You'd rather play Gordon who was stuck behind Scott Sinclair last season?

I too would like to play the youth but Gordon has already had 4 managers think he's not up to the level in Ancelotti Benitez, Prestons manager and Silva. Maybe he's just not that good yet
Oh, don't get me wrong, he's not good enough but neither are the players you're pleased about spending money on wages for (60K for Townsend, 40K for Gray - not peanuts). None of them are good enough but of the only positive thing people can say about Townsend and Gray is that they are cheaper than Bernard and Iwobi (Iwobi's going nowhere btw so that argument is weird in the first place), then I would argue that Gordon is even cheaper.

My biggest beef with us these last few years is the complete absence of any discernible direction/plan. Starting with the Great Summer of 97 Number 10s and until last summer our recruitment was haphazard (at best) and the tactics, such as they were, were a succession of different managers just trying lots of different stuff with the same crap players and hoping something would work.

Benitez seems like he has a plan from the off. He knows the formation he wants to play and knows we don't have a single wide player worth a carrot in the squad (assuming Gordon hasn't made leaps since last year).

My honest, genuine feeling about it all is that we will work, bore and scrape our way to a finish a good couple higher than we achieved last season. Basically, we'll spread the kind of performance we saw in a lot of away games last year, over the whole season. And we'll win more at home. And lose a few more away.

Whether that would be enough to win over those anti-Rafael remains to be seen, but I'd take that kind of progress happily. I think the respective identities of our more recent former manager and the current one make it difficult for many to admit that we played some absolutely rancid stuff in the last 33 games of last season so 'boring but effective' could actually be a step up.

The club need to take a step back and have a re-think on their recruitment plans. People are right to call out the direction of the club.

Lost your head mate lol we spent £65 million last summer which is what we likely will have again. Dumfries for £20 million and then 1-2 others for £25-30 million I think with the squad fillers like Gray, Townsend etc on lower wages than the current bozos on the bench.

It's not the figures involved, it's the calibre of the players. Gray and Townsend would not be signed by the better teams in this league. They would not even be considered by sides like Villa.

I haven't lost my head, but I am disillusioned. Appointing Benitez, then going after such average players, it says a lot about the direction the club is heading. I want a little bit of hope when watching football, but I barely want to watch this side.

Bolasie has gone now. Once Bernard is as well that's about 200k a week saved.

Some of the contracts we've handed out are utter lunacy. I know Bernard was free like but he'd have probably taken half what we gave him, really stupid from Brands that. He was getting linked with other clubs and so we utterly panicked.
