I was convinced James was off this summer but seeing him featuring in pre season so far and enjoying life at crosby beach makes me think no.

If he wasn't staying no way he risks injury training etc he's a primadonna who would be in some hotel in the city centre awaiting a call from his agent imo.

I'm not pleased about them signing but I'm also not going to start a revolt about it either. Theyre squad players in the same way the theory behind signing Delph wasn't a horrendous one at the time. I wanted Gordon to get chances for the past 2 years and for whatever unknown reason every single manager hasn't took a liking to him, Everton gave up developing him themselves when they shipped him off to Preston who then gave up on him themselves.

I'm pleased/relieved we aren't spending 20+ million and 80/100k on wages for players of Gray and Townsends ability (as we have done in the past with Iwobi, Walcott, Bolasie etc.) If skinting out and signing those two allows us to sign others on top I fail to see the issue really. They're clearly not being signed to be first name on the team sheet the same way Begovic is cover.

Then whats the plan when he's missing for half the season again?
 

Sell Kean, buy three wingers to provide service to DCL.


You just know DCL will get a knee injury for the whole season and Richarlison will be his usual self.

Yes. All the out of contract players were given the option of signing (Benteke) or waiting to see if the new manager (unknown at the time) would want them. Vieira told Townsend that he didn’t fit with his plans. Doesn’t make him a bad player just not what Vieira wants for whatever it is he will try to do.

The only reason he doesn't leave is if there is nobody willing to take his wage. Crosby beach in July is fine, Crosby beach in November is a different matter.
