Everton Summer transfers 2021

Football has moved on from the days of two wide men getting to byline and putting crosses in for a big number nine.

I wish we’d brought Potter in tbh.

We have a striker who is one of the best in the league with his head, he has scored 17 of his 40 premier league goals with his head. Richarlison is good with his head as well. We don't have that many players able to cross well, I would say James, Digne and Coleman are our top crossers. If we actually had a right side we could provide a lot of chances for DCL and Richarlison. I'm not saying it has to be the only option, but we shouldn't just say "the only way we can score is to play short passing football through the middle"

We’ve all said the team was lacking pace and width. Okay, so we aren’t signing galacticos but at least we are trying to address this. Agree that these signings give us more options than just throw on Sigurdsson/Iwobi.

This could genuinely be the year. James will go before the season starts, I'd be amazed if Richarlison's agent isn't working hard behind the scenes, and the one manager who managed to get anything out of Davies DCL and Keane has now gone - if those three return to their base line guff and Doucoure plays like his final season at Watford, we have all the ingredients for a catastrophic season

Still 25/1!

If we do get Mc Neill, why do we sign Gray then ?? assuming Richarlison will still be around and change between left sided role and 2 up top. Also Mc Neill's goalscoring record is not great like Gray like Townsend FFS

You rate him?

I think McNeil has a fantastic left foot and has 5 and 6 assists in his last two seasons for Burnley.

The only player i think who is comparable for us is Digne.

My thinking would be that if you had Digne and McNeil on the left side then thats potentially alot of assists coming from that side of the pitch.

Where teams could block off one of them, they will find it difficult to stop both.

In addition, McNeil also seems good 'tactically' and defensively and seems to follow instructions set out by Dyche -- so would suit a Benitez team.

Finally, i wonder if he may also be able to also rotate with James centrally as he seems to have ability to drift + vision to pick players out.

Im hoping that if he comes in on the left we are still going to move on either Antony or Bailey for the right side. I wouldnt fancy Richarlison on the right.

I am not normally against playing direct 442 with out and out wingers, but that systems needs brilliant central midfielders with lots of energy. Allan will need to be replaced by a proper disciplined midfielder for that system to have any chance of working.

Of the players we are linked with only Gray has pace.

Not a fan of the McNeil rumour, but good points made. I may be converted yet.
