More like resorting to Gray because of the amount of money we've wasted in the last years. And the most frustrating part is that we regularly get outplayed by teams with less resources.

No no, acting smartly in the market is about paying big fees for players from the German French Italian or Spanish leagues between the ages of 20-24. Oh and also the media must have mentioned them already and tagged a big club as interested.

If it doesn’t fit this criteria it’s a rubbish buy and we’re getting relegated.

I agree mate but thats where we are at the moment. Benitez has been brought in to build foundations similarly to what Moyes did over the years and that starts this summer.

We cant keep signing donkeys for £25 million+ at some stage we have to cut our cloth whilst we balance the books again.

No doubt next summer we will spend big as James will go, numerous dross on big wages are off the books and we'll have the BMD naming rights money starting to filter through. Potentially could also see Richarlison leave next year also.

Until then we need to box clever and have options in the squad whilst continuing to strengthen the starting 11.

McNeil & Dumfries is a start if they come - right age, pace, fill positions that need improving in.

I would like to see some actual evidence that we “extensively scout France” as the Athletic claims. I feel like our scouting network doesn’t extend much past the premier league and Barcelona.

Gray is not our starting wide man when Richie is fit. Fairly sure we will sign a BIG attacking player or two also
