Townsend wasn’t a starter. In fact he was deemed not good enough for a club that are on their arse in terms of numbers and could’ve done with holding onto any starters.

He is not good enough for a top half Premier League team.

what qualities does he bring ? He doesn’t score , which I think is a major quality in an attacking player, he doesn’t create … walcott scores more than he does . He’s another hard working , non productive wide player which we have already had for the past 20 years here. He’s not good enough. Being better than bolasie , iwobi etc doesn’t mean he’s good enough for us

I'd like to think he's been signed to not only give us width but also to put decent crosses into the box. When you have a forward like DCL in the box it makes sense. It's, something we failed to do last season so it's, another option imo.

Bring him off the bench if we're struggling to break teams down - he swings in a few crosses, big Dom says thanks very much and it's happy days.

Gbamin will probably last about 5 games before he breaks down again, and Allan isn’t up to it. We will be seeing another 20+ games of Andre Gomes if we don’t sign at least one midfielder.
