Bate going to Leeds and Livramento getting chased by Brighton and Southampton. I can't believe we aren't all over this but not surprised at all. Desperately need a RB and yet when one of the best comes availible Marcel has lost his phone. Bate meanwhile probably would've been our 4th best centre mid at 18.

GRAY HAVING EVERTON MEDICAL TODAY
Bayer Leverkusen
winger Demarai Gray is expected to undergo a medical at Everton today.
The former Birmingham winger joined Leverkusen on an 18-month contract from Leicester in January but has scored just once in the Bundesliga since moving to Germany.
The 25-year-old is set to undergo a medical at Everton's Finch Farm training ground on Tuesday ahead of a £1.5m move to the Toffees.

Didn't realise this one was that advanced.

I can understand signing one of Gray and Townsend. I can't understand signing both. It's adding 2 average squad players to an already very average squad. We haven't even got anyone out the door yet.

Dumfries

They play on opposite sides so isn't really all that confusing.

Well there must be a change of system coming up because we haven't played with wingers in a long long time.

Signing both adds two average players. I can understand signing one squad player but the other wide player needs to be of a higher calibre.

Why do we need to play with a no.10? It's an old fashioned position not used by most good teams.

A more attacking midfielder who can pass forward and get around the pitch is what we need. Not a number 10.

As long as they are mobile and have a goal in them

So, my assumption would be that Benitez has rightly highlighted the lack of actual wide players in the squad

Bernard is leaving, Iwobi believes his best position is a number 10 (and that's where he has played in pre-season), Gordon doesn't seem to be ready and you'd assume we will look to loan him out, so that leaves us with literally just Richarlison

If you work on the assumption that you want two players for each position, that would mean we are short of three wide players - Gray plays from the left so can cover Richarlison. Townsend plays from the right, but you'd hope we are still looking for a player there who would go into the 1st XI - Athletic linked us with Bailey and Chukwueze yesterday, whilst there were also links to McNeil

We've shifted some players off the books over the summer so to me these signings, whilst not setting the world alight, are filling glaring holes in the squad

Moussa Diaby is whom we need.
