Yeah I dont personally class wingers as midfielders.
I realise they are, don't worry, but I class them as forwards, its a personal thing.
So if somebody says midfield, I think DM/CM/AM.
I don't see Dortmund sacrificing Bellingham, there will be far more saleable assets that can balance the books.
Thre is also a question of immediacy for us. In general, signing superstars at 17/18 hasn't realy been something we do, or something that has worked well for us. As a rule, I don't think we develop elite talent very well who are teenagers. We sort of see it a bit with Kean, the pitfalls of this.
I think if we were to go big on a deal, it may be someone in the 20-22 range who has a little more miles on the clock. Or we might just go and do Rabiot and tick the box for the next few seasons, and potentially look for value deals from below (Holgate, Nkounkou, Brainthwaite, Holgate) which is where the club tend to do better at.
As a final aside, if we were to tmhrow big money at such a player, I'd imagine it would be the lad from Ajax.
Maybe it is , but he has a year left onIt's likely that the story is a load of bollocks
I like the way you have just given up on the wingers cos they are all garbo. If we did go with the diamond...
GK: Pickford / Virginia
LB: Digne / Nkounkou
CB: Godfrey / Keane
CB: Mina / Holgate / Branthwaite
RB: ??? / Coleman
DM: Davies
CM: Allan
CM: Doucoure
AM: James / Sigurdsson
CF: DCL / King
CF: Richarlison / Kean
...then its all about funds available. Tosun, Bernard, Gomes, Delph and Kenny out would probably cover Aarons fee.
At face value, we'd only be lacking in DM (Gbamin?) and CM where these players are usually cheaper than the more 'attacking' transfers.
I'd hope a list would contain: Kamara, Guimaraes, Camavinga, Gravenberch and Bellingham...amongst others.
I dont see Rabiot being an option really as hes now a regular for Juventus.
It just strikes me that this formation would (in the short term) enable us to sign a limited number of players but still have quality and strength in depth.
If we just go and sign 2 players for the right and also a couple of centre mids then we'll still be very light on the flanks in terms of squad depth and quality.
I'm well aware of this. It is why last summer I said it might be a bad idea. The issue is we will have to replace them next summer most likely....
We’ve taken a huge gamble and it COULD backfire in stupendous fashion
Messi and Ronaldo.I’ll defend Zat here, no honestly, he was only asked to name players who could do things. Not once we’ve got a chance of signing.
Weird though as being garbo is clearly not something that keeps you out of Zat's teamI like the way you have just given up on the wingers cos they are all garbo.
Smart.

We cannot be building a team around the shape of a diamond. When has that ever been successful in the past 20 years? The game now demands pace, power and energy more than anything else. Two new wide forwards, CM and a RB should be a priority.
So Right back is £30mil then 2 wide forwards lets say £80mil+ and a top CM at £40mil
£150mil there
"Pace, power and energy" you wrote. Why cant we have that without wide forwards?
