Everton Summer transfers 2021

We laugh at how bad Walcott and Sidibie were for us last season but between them they contributed to 8 assists and 2 goals from that right hand side, 9 assists if you throw Coleman in there, this season we have 1 assist, against Crystal Palace in October last year....

I can’t recall the last time we had a side that was so unbalanced and one dimensional. We wonder why we are so predictable and scrape by in games. Honestly don’t know any other team in the league that doesn’t have an outlet from each wing.

Pee poor recruitment policy allowing Kenny and Walcott to go without having replacements lined up. Especially knowing Coleman can’t stay injury free and Iwobi is total trash. King isn’t a right winger.

Never going to happen (moved to udinese in january) but would of loved to see gerard deulofeu come back under carlo, need a winger badly and i think under carlo he'd be a better player for us than previous (i thought he was decent before hand too)

Rabiot has that same “can’t be arsed” vibe to him that Berbatov etc had, super laid back... he’d drive some of our fans insane.

To become a top 4 side we are clearly still miles away (I think most of us knew this.) we still need at least 4 decent signings. - RB, Forward and 2 x CM’s.
Even then we’ll still lack a bit of depth of squad compared to some.
AND that’s providing none of our better players leave!

The only positive I can find from performances like last night (and there’s been many of them) is it is glaringly obvious which players are not up to it.

1: Bellingham
2: Aarons
3: Sancho
4: Virginia

When he was speaking to clubs i said it would be pretty interesting to see if him and Onyango could make it on the pitch together in a few years time.

With Dortmund needing to sell players this summer hes someone we should be in for. Goes straight into our team.

Sorry I can't take that list seriously now that you've left out Haaland

Walcott shouldn't have been allowed to go without a replacement. Hes a different type of player and has pace to push back defences.

If its true we are still paying him then what was the actual point

Zat you are deluded if you think Sancho is an option.

Dortmund could well be forced to move players on, and the thinking is right to target certain clubs, but not sure we can get their premium assets, probably neee to aim a rung down (where they still have good players).

As a sligt aide on Bellingham, he was in the same England youth teams as Price, and Price was considered on the circuit quite favourably with him and Harvey Elliot.

I just don't like it as a system, Zat.

It's not been used successfully in the Premier League.

I think for the odd game, with the right personnel, it can work, and that's fine. I'm not tied to one formation and neither is Carlo. Formations are much less important than having an attacking system/structure and a defensive system/structure which allows you to create chances and also stop giving away so many chances whether you're playing 4-3-3 or a diamond or 3-4-3 or whatever.

The only PL team that I can think of off the top of my head in recent seasons that has used a diamond to any tangible success in a consistent run was Spurs, and they played it for about 10 games a few seasons back when Poch got them to the CL final. They actually stopped playing it when Eriksen's form started to dip, IIRC.

United have played it on and off this season, either in Europe or the PL, but it's not a system which can be relied on. It really isn't.

Ive moved this as were close to being a bit off topic and i also wanted to say:

If we did stick to that system then hypothetically:

-- We keep Olsen
-- We sign Aarons
-- Kean + King are kept on
-- We sell off all the deadwood

How many more players would we actually 'need' ?

By my guess its 2 players for the centre.

For me, that would make enormous sense because it enables us to put the entire transfer kitty on 4 players:

Olsen -- who i dont rate but as an example
Aarons -- £30mil approx
2 CM players

Depending on the amount we have to play with we could actually do some real damage in the market by only going for a low number of players which fit that system.

If we want to be more expansive then we'd probably need RB + RW + CM + LW + GK at a bare minimum and with poor quality backups.

Id rather we kept the signings to a minimum but went for the best we can afford.

Yes of course, its just a high level signing that we 'may' have a chance on if we had the funds...

Hes gone there for games and development. Still young and not many better coaches to learn under than Ancelotti and also to cement a place in a premier league side of our standing.

As i mentioned to Bluetoff above, i think we would really need to keep our signings to a minumum this summer and make a couple of big plays.

I don't see Dortmund sacrificing Bellingham, there will be far more saleable assets that can balance the books.

Thre is also a question of immediacy for us. In general, signing superstars at 17/18 hasn't realy been something we do, or something that has worked well for us. As a rule, I don't think we develop elite talent very well who are teenagers. We sort of see it a bit with Kean, the pitfalls of this.

I think if we were to go big on a deal, it may be someone in the 20-22 range who has a little more miles on the clock. Or we might just go and do Rabiot and tick the box for the next few seasons, and potentially look for value deals from below (Holgate, Nkounkou, Brainthwaite, Holgate) which is where the club tend to do better at.

As a final aside, if we were to tmhrow big money at such a player, I'd imagine it would be the lad from Ajax.
