I predict we'll sign some players and think we're getting somewhere and then not actually get anywhere.

I just wish we signed fast players its like every scout / DOF of ours since Moyes thought we are playing in the Eredivise and not the Premier League.

Nearly every team in the league bar the Sheffield Plumbers seem to have fast players who can move the ball quickly / carry it forward.

Again mate, thats not a pace thing, its a speed of thought thing.

Theres not a player in the world that can travel as fast as a pass.

Not our passes of course.

Confidence, too.

But majority of our players simply do not have confidence unless the entrie team is on the pitch and we've won 4 or 5 in a row.
We havent fielded a settled side all season.

Football is really easy, once you know where your team mate and what he will do, its easy.

We had the settled wall and we looked solid, everybody knew their jobs and it worked, then we had injuries.

If we could pick up less injuries it would be super, yes I'm aware that loads of teams have injuries, but I've watched a lot of football this season and for me, no other teams seem to constantly have 3 or 4 of their best players missing, every week.

You need a certain level of pace to pressure teams into giving the ball up. It’s the difference between a ball over the top being routinely cleared by Godfrey using his pace, or Mina is in trouble giving a penalty away. Same ball different outcome. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve seen Siggurdson stretching to make an interception and just missing it and falling over. A slightly quicker player gets it and is on the attack.

Tenacity and pace are different, im not saying our midfield isn't slow and ponderous, but I think that's cos Gomes and Iceberg play in such a style, they like to put their foot on the ball.

I dunno, maybe its me, people keep calling for pace, I don't think its pace we lack, its tenacity, desire, quicken the ball up.

KDB isn't a pacy player, hes not slow, but his speed is in his head, the quickness on the ball, switching play, if that's what people mean by pace, then sure, we need "pace".

James has speed in his head, more than nearly any player I’ve seen, that said though if it’s a foot race between him and the opposition player for a loose ball he’s not winning it.

We need a base level of pace to allow us to not get bullied by the likes of Newcastle and Fulham, then your quality can tell. At the moment the likes of Bernard Gomes Siggurdson James can get snuffed out by some championship yard dogs quite easily.

Cos they scared.

Championship yard dogs have desire and fight, hunger.

You need a blend of both. You need players with the footballing brain and composure to play quickly but you also need pace to stretch defences. The most important and obvious position where pace is needed in modern football is at fullback. We have no threat at right back and it means the system is lop sided.

Mentality is our biggest issue this year. When a loose ball drops we have midfielders who don't want to know. The only one who is up for the battle is Allan but he is rash and has no positional discipline.

Well, since the first derby

Like two wingers would help us be more direct in games somebody like nkounkou who we can develop and a player like bailey ready to start. Then still need a backup gk, starting rb, a mobile cm like dacoure, cf need a backup for dom in kean leaves

Can't really predict the summer business with Carlo as (again) I have literally no idea what system we'll be playing in 6 months.

With James in and Sigurdsson probably signing an extension, it looks like the plan is to play with a 10. So the diamond looks like it could be one of our important systems going forward? It can't be 4231.

With the number 10s we have, complete lack of wingers and the fact that Richarlison is clearly a striker, I don't see how we can escape a two-striker system.

The fact that we don't have a clear preferred system after 15 months is a real issue
