Everton Summer transfers 2021

By watching both. Kean can stretch a defense , DcL cannot. Kean needs through balls (see his Florida cup goal) , but we constantly lump the ball up to him like he DCL

….there’s a continual long list of excuses for Kean’s dreadful performances for us, I’ve seen this one lots (by the way, DCL stretches a defence much more effectively than Kean).

He’ll be a passenger in any team if he’s a forward who has to get the ball played in front of him with a clean run on goal. When he’s had a run on goal and faced with a defender he‘s stuck. He always shifts the ball to his right and tries to blast it, invariably it’s blocked.

He shows no finesse, he blasts the ball goalwards. Forget the excuses & just consider his performances for Everton, we need more than a player who we have to put in on goal with only the keeper to blast it past.

As reliable as you're going to get from the Athletic today, btw...

Working on a shoestring budget, Benitez has turned in part to what he knows best: Townsend, a favourite from his time at Newcastle; Demarai Gray a long-time target. Sean Longstaff, another who played under the Spaniard at St James’ Park, remains on the wish list. The pair have kept in touch, with initial talks held over a move. Benitez favourite Salomon Rondon, currently at Dalian Professional in China, has also been on Everton’s radar, but a move earlier in the window was thwarted by complications over how the deal would be structured.

Well if the club want McNeil mate Richarlison will move to the Right regardless of what us forum experts think about it - he played on the left most of last season and was utter dog turd!

He's played on the right under Silva and for Brazil and done alright.
But if we want to catch up with the Leicesters of the world we have to target our signings for areas needed especially if moneys tight. Ritchies far better on the left and prefers to play there. Davies can play rb, dcl rwb and delph lb shall we play them all there too.

Adding all these average players on the cheap just makes signing a quality player even harder. All these players won't be playing for free so why are we adding them and making it even harder to do the business we need.

1 quality player is better than 3 average players. We've always gone for quantity over quality ever since that summer of stupidity under Koeman, and it needs to stop.

The blame lies with Walsh and Brands who have overseen our abysmal recruitment since around 2016. Brands is the man currently in position so it is his responsibility to find solutions. As always we are entering a new season with enormous gaps in the squad and that is how it has always been under Brands. Early business has always escaped us, and forward planning doesn't seem to be considered important at this club.

There is no way Brands or our board should be saying to Benitez that he can bring in Rondon and Longstaff.

We don't need the type of midfielder Longstaff is, IMO. I think he's alright, but I don't see what he offers that Davies doesn't. He's probably a better passer but he doesn't carry the ball, doesn't play incisive passes. So what's the point? Maybe I'm wrong and he'll turn into prime Carrick.

Rondon. I'd get it if he was available for free, and if he'd been playing at a half-decent level. But he isn't, and he hasn't been, and he'd still be on £50k a week at least you'd imagine.

The signings we've made so far are alright for squad fodder but bloody hell we can't be adding more to it.

And it's mad that our main target is seemingly McNeil who has never played in the actual forward position that we need filling...

McNeil is not the answer to our problems and will probably cost too much anyway. Would rather finances be directed towards a RB or a forward

They also note that we are in for Dumfries and McNeil (As is common knowledge) but we can't make the finances work as we aren't willing to break the rules.

Good old Everton ey.

This is the thing, it's clearly the safest thing to do, I get that. But there is also the argument that actually, we should push it, because the PL have made a rod for their own back with the Super League stuff. But we're too nice for that.

We obviously shouldn't be stockpiling the squad, and we need to trim it, I'm not against that. I am against not having a chuffing right-back in and our main targets been dross or a decent player that has never played in a position that we actually need filling.
