A replacement for McNeil?
It says Burnley have made an offer but then says haven't.

A replacement for McNeil?
It might be in more widespread use, who rightly would buy Iwobi / Gomes / Delph / Kean / Kenny based on the (genuine) opinions of them expressed here?Folk thinking this was a joke, are wrong. Its not the only thing they do, obvs, but they trust the committed match going supporters of small clubs (which is their shopping place) as well as a few scouting reports.
Wouldn't pay 25m for that though personallyLike a modern days Kilbane (an left-footed old fashioned winger)
People inside clubs should absolutely be dismissing itIt might be in more widespread use, who rightly would buy Iwobi / Gomes / Delph / Kean / Kenny based on the (genuine) opinions of them expressed here?
I certainly wouldn't.
Fans opinion should not be dismissed, its smart to reference it in conjunction with other factors.
Kilbane was such an underwhelming signing at the time, but how decent he turned out to be! Proper workhorse and a top bloke tooLike a modern days Kilbane.
Me either. £25m for someone who doesn’t score or assist enough just no thanks.Wouldn't pay 25m for that though personally

I actually like Kevin. He was good at headers too. What I mean was if McNeil costs a low fee then it’s ok but £25m/£30m?Kilbane was such an underwhelming signing at the time, but how decent he turned out to be! Proper workhorse and a top bloke too

They have some crazy scouting methods but so far they have worked for them. Thinking outside the box.Folk thinking this was a joke, are wrong. …in days of old, clubs would always do their homework to determine a players character. Talking to his old managers, team mates and coaches. With the easy access to social media & the amount invested in players, you’d think it was par for the course to analyse fans forums etc.
Because supporters aren't looking at their own players objectively at all. And people within the game should have ways to do that. Why? The best judges are those that watch a footballer live. In the flesh. Videos/TV tell you some stuff, but live is always best.
Yeah, short term fixes, works to create profit in the short term, creates a long term problem if you can't boost revenue in future seasons. But who cares about the future ?
Our number 10 is costing us 15M every season.
Delph- selling for 2M would leave us approx 3M better off this season (7M next season)
Mina- Sell for 10M would mean we were 4M better off this season, 11M better off next season.
Kean, sell for 11M would leave us cash neutral this season, 9M better off this season. So 31M sale = 20M better off this season.
Letting James go for free would see us somewhere between 5-10M better off this season.
Of course there is some guesswork in the salaries above, but they shouldn't be too far off.
(You actually need players to come in as well which probably negates some of the saving you'd make but the exits of number 19 and Delph at worst next summer = well over 20M less out the door)
Would imagine that James, Gomes, Kean and Delph are the ones we are most hopeful to get rid of by the window's close.
Gomes: could fetch a bit of a fee and clears biggish wages
James: ditto
Kean: fee potential
Delph: wages
Move those four on and we might make a purchase like McNeil.
I'm sure there are others like Kenny that we want to move on, but they don't cause much of a book problem and won't fetch much of a fee (still a sale would be great). If Tosun wasn't broken he would be in the list above.
Wouldn't these overinflated prices catch up with us though as the inflated fee would impact several years? Also, selling anyone would become impossible without some kind of loss, no?
….I doubt Gomes will leave, surely nobody could match his salary & he won’t be prepared to take a massive pay cut.
Kenny, Kean & Delph are logically the only ones we’ll shift.
