They are almost as difficult to do business with as Spurs are these days.

Spot on. He played out of his skin for a few months at West Ham in a last ditch bid to force his way into the England team for the Euros. He'll be 29 this season and we really don't need an ageing and inconsistent player inflating the wage bill further. After his blistering start, he then failed to score in their final 6 games.

As a loan if we lose James and obviously siggurdsson won’t be back. A player that can get forward from midfield wouldn’t be a bad option. Long term I wouldn’t want us to spend a penny on him.

It’s quite easy. If he goes somewhere else he’ll be hailed as brilliant and we should have gone for him. If he comes here it doesn’t matter how good he is he’ll be derided as a 29 year old waste of money.

Tbf. It's these types of deals that is the reason we are in this mess at the moment. Cast offs from supposed big six on big wages at a bad age.

I'd rather we try to find some up and commers with calculated risk.
 

If we are going for the tactic of running/driving the ball into the box instead of cute passes, then Lingard proved he can do that well, that being said, surely West Ham will get first dibs here? Especially if it’s a loan?

Surely this will take a while to go through, which ever way it goes. By then it maybe February/March. I doubt he will come back then and he will be out of contract in the summer. Even if he’s innocent, I doubt the club would want the attention him playing would bring.

I’d be amazed if he plays for us again

I think the fact it’s even gone on this long says that no, he absolutely will not play football for us ever again.
