Unfortunately we’re not quite rubbish enough for top clubs to do us a favour. They’ll sell their prospects to Brighton and Southampton or Norwich but if we’d asked Chelsea to loan Gilmour or take Livramento it would probably have been a no. Lukaku is the only one handout I can remember is getting and even then I’m convinced it’s because they thought we’d be no threat under Martinez.

I really don’t think Chelsea have us down as a threat to them.

I have never seen him play, but everything I have read about him from those that know Scottish football points to him being a real talent.

If that is the case then I can understand Rangers not letting him leave cheaply, particularly when Chelsea and City spend fortunes on young players for their academies.

Where I am struggling is that I think we need someone readymade, rather than one for the development squad.
Forgive me if I have the wrong poster mate, but you've been harping on about FFP since the start of the window, so much so that it was annoying. But turns out you were right.

Now you're complaining that we're buying potential when we need the end product. Isn't the answer obvious? £10m won't buy you much end product.

Rangers dont want to sell him & Gerrard certainly doesn't... some of the comments on here are unbelievable & not just relating to Paterson.
Sick of spunking £30 million on crap players.. sick of signing players that are past it.. when will Brands start unearthing some young gems.. he's too slow.. he's not good enough... not signing someone else's junk etc
Paterson is a young exciting player with potential to reach an extremely high level & its ridiculous some of the comments from people who have probably never seen him play.
Really struggling to understand what exactly some people expect from the club in terms of incomings.
He’s had 19 games in his entire professional career

5 million pounds would make him one of the most expensive spl signings

Get a grip

Top o the morning blues, another day, another transfer round up and at this stage it’s all getting pretty stale. It’s becoming more apparent that any business we do will get done closer to the deadline. In any case here’s today’s pickings.

Everton have had an approach for 19-year-old Scottish defender Nathan Patterson knocked back by Rangers and it is unclear if the Toffees will return with a second bid. (Liverpool Echo)

According to a report by Portuguese outlet Record (h/t Liverpool Echo), Sporting CP have put a €20million price tag for Everton transfer target, Matheus Nunes. The Blues have been linked with the Brazilian during the summer transfer window and the Liga NOS side would be willing to sell if their valuation is met

Everton have made a new and improved bid to sign Lazio forward Joaquin Correa.

That's according to the Mirror, via Goodison News, who are reprting that the Blues have offered £32million plus add-ons for the 27-year-old Argentina international.

The report also goes on to claims that Correa is a “key target” for Rafael Benitez and Everton are “confident” of being able to complete a deal before the transfer deadline passes on August 31.
