Everton Summer transfers 2021

I hope that the only reason we are hearing about Everton being interested in Maupay is to destabilise him ahead of the game at the weekend.

if this is what we’ve done and we win then I will be completely turned around on Benitez

up the snide player-unsettling bloos

Richarlison was utter garbage last season. Maupay was amazing and scored 1 more than him and took pens.

And one played for Everton, the other Brighton.

On total Premier League appearances and goals;

Richarlison
145 Games
39 Goals
0.26

Maupay
72 Games
20 Goals
0.27

The point being taking stats in isolation, doesn't really give the full story.

You keep saying "He only scores 8 goals a season" but his record in England is this;

Any player, at 22, playing in the Prem for the first time for Brighton and hitting 10 league goals has something to his game.

I think he'll stay and hit double figures again this season for them.

He's an important player for them, so it wont happen anyway.

We can't afford him.

Think Maupay would be a great signing - pace, can fill a few positions and can slot. Best days ahead of him. Can't see it happening though.
Players can improve and you get more out of them when they join a better side with better players around them.
However we really aren’t much better than Brighton.

Richarlison out and this chump in would be astonishingly ridiculous business, even for a club ran as badly as Everton.

Chris Wood has hit double figures every season he’s been in the Prem.

I think he’ll stay too, I also think he’ll never ever play for a team better than Brighton. Thankfully this won’t be happening.

Honestly cant we scout past the PL this window?

I don't mind it in theory, because you get players who know the league who you can judge as having 'done it' here. It's why I thought Doucoure was a smart signing, had no problem with that one.

But Maupay? McNeil? Not for me, especially Maupay. At least with McNeil you can argue we have the set-up with DCL for him to thrive a bit more in a better team, but Maupay is bang average. Shane Long is the perfect comparison - a ratter of a striker who runs for days and does little else.

Not sure about that, I mean we finished 18 points above them last season.

Add those 18 points to our tally and we finish 2nd.

That's some difference.

Fans turn their nose up at certain players because of their current situation/who they play for. It was like with Demarai Gray.

I`m sure the fact that at Real Madrid he is signing Mbappe whilst we sign superstars like Gray and Townsend whilst being liked with Rondon and Maupay didnt have anything to do with it AS WELL AS selling our best players in James and Richarlison.

I think he saw the meltdown coming, any manager of his calibre would have done the same....
Nah he's a rat and we are better off without him.
He's a snake oil seller who smooth talked us , sold us a dream, pulled our pants down andfled in the middle of the night.

If we had an adequate scouting network we could find that output in a European league for a quarter of the price

But we don't - so we won't

I agree mate but sadly we dont so its either moan and stamp your feet at a squad improvement or cut your nose off to spite your face and keep praying that Kean/Toshun will do anything productive off the bench whilst the never ending wheel of finishing 8th-12th keeps on turning.

Its the same with McNeil - would instantly improve our wide options but people would rather go with what we've got because other teams with decent DOF's can sign a player similiar for half the price.

So long as we are signing players that suit the actual system I'll be happy certainly until next summer with our current financial predicament making it difficult for us to bolster the squad this window.

We've spent £1.5 million on 4 players spending £30 million on a Maupay or McNeil doesn't bother me when its still 5 players in for less than half of what Utd have paid for Sancho who can't even get into Utds first team so far.

Same argument was used for the likes of bolasie, sigurdson, Keane, etc etc. Usually it just isn’t the case
