It doesn't matter to me if we spent more under him than we ever would under the whole of the Kenwright period. The results haven't been as good as under Kenwright;s tenure. That makes his time here a complete failure. The only saving grace is the stadium scheme being accepted, but we're miles off that too.

He should have booted Elstone and brought in a top CEO as soon as he took control.

No you're right of course. I was referring to the form at the letter part of Carlo's term which was dire.

It was actually their form at the start of the season that gives me hope that this group of players can actually cut it in this league.

But yeah, the jury is still out on Benitez. You can't deny the improvement though
 
What if Moshiri has finally decided he isn’t giving us any more money to waste on crap players, and the premier league’s profitability and sustainability rules are just a convent cover. He may well think that after nearly half a billion invested in the playing side of the club, for no discernible improvement, his money would be better spent pushing Bramley-Moore through.

Just a thought. It really might explain the Benitez appointment though. Maybe he was the only candidate prepared to take on the job when the board told him the financial situation. In fairness to him he does seem to have enough self belief to think he could make it work.
 

With the loan fee we’re probably getting all the money we paid for him back.
Just wish we could do that for some other players

Spurs with the Bale money, tosh. Andy Carroll to RS for £35m? Tosh. Fred for nearly £60m? Garbage.

All clubs spend horrid amounts, all clubs struggle to sell aged poor players on huge contracts.

Everybody makes mistakes but we’ve done it as almost a default setting. Andy Carroll and bale at Spurs were about 10 years ago since which we’ve bought probably 20 odd duds which is incredible. I’m not saying nobody has ever done as badly as we have but it’s not the case that everybody does it we’ve definitely been one of the worst in the market the last 5 years or so.

problem we have we don’t have too many in that bracket and losing one would be a major blow, unlike Chelsea for example who can easily dispense with Hazard or Costa to balance their books

forget Hazard and Costa, Chelsea are set to make 100m from selling on players from the academy, yet another thing we are woeful at
