As an example
I mean…. That’s eye-poppingly bad. Really.
Half a billion spent to secure 10th place in the table.

The Moshiri years.

I’m not anti-Moshiri in the slightest, but we’ve gotta be one of the greatest examples of “be careful what you wish for” in football history

All those years of being desperate for money, to be in a worse position for it when it finally comes

We are no better off or worse than when Moshiri joined.
I can’t fault Moshiri’s ambition as he has backed manager after manager. Just don’t like how he hasn’t put his lack of football knowledge aside and let those who know what they’re doing handle things.

having kenwright around the place can’t be a good thing tho

He's been the key: he employed the key players who wasted half a billion - Koeman, Silva, Allardyce, Ancelotti and above all Brands.

It doesn't matter to me if we spent more under him than we ever would under the whole of the Kenwright period. The results haven't been as good as under Kenwright;s tenure. That makes his time here a complete failure. The only saving grace is the stadium scheme being accepted, but we're miles off that too.

The only Brighton player we should be looking at is bissouma
We already missed out. We need to find the next version of that type. Kante, Gueye, Ndidi, Bissouma, maybe Declan Rice too are all in that category but those players become valuable the longer they go on so we've got to snag the next before he's made a name for himself.

55 mil net per season
Thats chump change this day and age if you want to be up there with the big boys.
55 mil gets you 1 half decent player in todays market.
It’s still the 3rd highest net over the last 5 years. Obviously if some one gets sold for £50m+ that will drop us down the table rapidly.
problem we have we don’t have too many in that bracket and losing one would be a major blow, unlike Chelsea for example who can easily dispense with Hazard or Costa to balance their books
