you lash him on, he'll hold the ball up and win headers, thats enough for a backup striker, maybe he'll bang the odd goal in.
our foward options are limited of DCL/Richarlison and then next in line is...........Tosun.
It's not the worst it's not the best, It's a plaster to get us by for the season.
I don't think he's good enough to justify signing a 32 year old.

Why do people always bring up world class players in this debate?

There is quite a lot of difference between Kane and Rondon. There are lots of players who are somewhere in between. I would prefer us to find an up and coming player (like we did with DCL) and develop them.
Well, it’s called hyperbole to make a point.

Ideally we’ll sign both Rondon and a Jebbison to develop, but Rondon makes a lot of sense as a stopgap bench player who knows the manager and will come cheap.

If James is on the reported £200k a week and Porto are paying money towards it (say minimum of 50% and maximum of 100%) we could he saving anything from £5-10m meaning the deal could really be costing us £15-20m.
Or, looking at it another way, it'll cost us £25m for Diaz and £5m from us in wages for James to play for Porto. So we pay £30m in total for Diaz to play for us and James to play for them.

That was for one season. They bought Ronaldo to win the CL... let's ot forget they got to the final just before that.

The Juve team went backwards after he signed. Probably because they had a player who couldn't be arsed to run

No they didn't they got knocked out by real madrid the season before the signed Ronaldo in the quarters. It was the 16/17 season they were in the final and they got embarrassed by real madrid.

This reminds me of the bs people used to say about Lukaku when he was here. Only its even stupider because its Cristiano Ronaldo ffs. The lad has nearly a 1 in 1 goal involvement after 134 games when you have a player like that your damn right you play to their strengths because they win you games.

Maybe they should be looking at the fact their defenses combined age dates back the the mesozoic era and their keeper is gash.

6 goals and 5 assists in 18 league games worth of minutes.

He's a good player, but it's a lot of money plus throwing a player of James' quality in.

Look, he'd be a good signing, but we still lack any player who can control any period of a game if we shift James - which I know it seems like we have to.

Just don't get why in the world we would do it.

You're better off just letting James sign on a free transfer, surely. That bit obviously would require him and Mendes to then take the cut for Porto.

We should not, in any way, be paying James Rodriguez to play for any other team.

James isn't able to control games in this league though. He hasn't got the legs or the physicality to do that. He is a player capable of special moments of quality that no one else is capable of, but is certainly not someone who controls a match.

I think it's becoming clear that the manager doesn't plan to use him regularly so it's in everyone's interests to move him on. He needs to play and we can't afford to have such a high earner not involved.

Well, no because James wages will of already been budgeted for in the accounts so any of that money that we don't have to pay will be a reduction on our outgoings and will effect our budget accordingly.

Control periods of games.

People are raving about that one pass Iwobi played for Dom v Leeds (it was a good pass btw). James does that 5-6 times a game...

I look at the Palace game last season at home. We had complete control of that match because when James was on we could give it to him to dictate the tempo. He went off and we lost all of that.

Now, it didn't work every game and I don't mean that he'd suddenly become a Pirlo type. It's just a shame to be bringing in genuine pace and then not having a player who can provide magic to get them the ball.
