Everton Summer transfers 2021

Tom Davies doesn't lose the ball a lot, I proved it the other day.

It's not unconditional love, he has his faults. He's also the best player we have on our books but I accept that we need to move him on. Why we need to move him on (our finances) is the issue here.

I'm fed up of Evertonians and their revisionism, though. We did it with Lukaku, did it with Richarlison last season when he had a rough patch of form.
I think if anybody is guilty of revisionism here though it's you. My problem with some Evertonians is how we big up some players to be better than they actually are. Richarlison is one of them, but the James worship is on another level for some folk.

edit: I like Tom Davies by the way.

You're not being paid 200k a week by the club to know though are you. You're a fan and are able to pick and choose what information you would like to know.

Ever since ancelotti left james has wanted out. The fact that he came out and said he was only here because of ancelotti shows he doesn't care at all about this club. The fact he couldn't be bothered to come to goodison for our last home game just to do the lap of honor for the fans proved that to me.

I think hes an exceptional player but ill be honest I think his attitude stinks and the Colombian press seems to think the same. As well as the Colombian national team seem to be freezing him out of the squad as well. Something is going on with that lad and I dont believe its benitez.
He wasn't fit.

It's totally fine to say he doesn't want to be here and it's probably true. But tbh, I wouldn't want to be at this basket case of a club if I were him anyway. It doesn't make him a bad player or mean that it hasn't worked out for him here because frankly in the games he played he was magic last year. And if for better coaching from Carlo and better recruitment too we'd have done something last season and he'd have played a major, major part.

We shouldn't ever be happy to lose a player of his quality when we have people celebrating because Iwobi played two decent passes in two games, mate. That's my issue. But I fully understand why he needs to go.

However, the reason for him going is to free up wages. We aren't getting a fee for him. So if we decide to pay £5m of James' wages for him to play for someone else, it'll be very annoying. Like I said, it's not like we've got De Bruyne and Silva and Foden to call on is it.

I won't argue with that because he only gave us 1 good game in 5 at best, which was a poor return. But in that 1 game he showed what he was capable of which made it more frustrating.

If by that you mean tossing a decent corner or free kick onto someone’s head, yes. Honestly, at no point in his spell with the club has he done anything that I have thought is a skill unique to him. He doesn’t stand out as a player in any way, he’s absolutely terrible.

….I think with Davies, he’s lost possession in key areas at key times and cost us. He tries to be brave, taking the ball on the spin is what the good players do. It makes you realise just how good Osman was.

Revisionism?

I've been consistent on this. If James goes, we need to replace his creativity and goals. 14 direct goal contributions all told, and one of the best players in the league (even over only 24 games) when it came to creativity (believe it's called 'expected threat', but that's too much detail I suppose).

I know why he needs to leave. I'm annoyed because the reason we can't afford James isn't because of James. It's because we have the likes of Delph and Gomes soaking up north of £200k in weekly wages.

Maitland-Niles you could argue is in the same position Gray was in.

He clearly has talent because he has played over 100 times for Arsenal plus 5 caps for England at right wing back.

His biggest weaknesses is also his biggest concern, his versatility

He hasn't been able to stick to a position to make his own. That could be great for us if we can offload Delph and/or Gomes.

When he went to West Brom it was under the condition of he would only play Centre Midfield and personality I was put off at that but I think he was frustrated at Arsenal and a move to a lesser club meant he could dictate what he wanted to do, here I think he would be told not asked.

A loan with option is sensible and allows us to cover the right back position short term and potentially have Maitland-Niles becoming first choice.

Looking at that id say there's more chance of him being our RW then our RB

I mean this happened maybe 2 or 3 times all season.

We literally have other players who can't pass forwards.

I can get the arguments against James. Lack of pace, energy and fitness. All agreed there. And for that reason he probably doesn't suit right now and given his wages we need those freed up. But it's revisionism in the extreme to suddenly say an issue was he lost the ball a lot :D
Your wasting your time mate, James is the worst player to ever play for us and must be moved on at all costs while Rondon is a decent signing. This is the insanity your dealing with.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is a surprise. I didn't think Arsenal would be letting him go on a permanent even. He's got pace, energy and work rate. Importantly, he can be a ball carrier from right back and through the middle.

Hope that comes off.

Diaz for James? Yes please. The next generation of superstars. I saw him in the Copa and the lad looked dynamite.

Keeping James wouldn't be terrible either.

Hopefully the Eduouard talk is true. Could be the next Lukaku for us. Pace, power, and finishing ability.

Have him over Rondon for sure.

If these three deals come off, we'll be looking good for this season. Top six contenders. Vault me.

Davies has a bad habit of losing it in dangerous areas

I’m looking forward to the next few games
Hopefully the lineup will look like this:

—————DCL—————
Luis Dias—Richy—Gray—
———Allan—Doucs———
Digne—Mina—Godfrey—???

Preferred lineup

Why would the burden of proof be with those who are arguing that the man who's been brought in specifically for transfers (Brands), is actually the one in charge of transfers?

The burden of proof lies with you to suggest the man whos been brought in specifically to MANAGE, is taking charge of transfers.

You're reaching, in favour of your Benitez bias.
His record at getting high earners out is woeful. To think he could persuade James to shift from here on the wage he's on is preposterous. Other forces are at work if he leaves for Porto.

Well according to him he was,

"I [am in] a recovery that is in its final part, in which I have taken enough time to fully integrate myself to the practice of football and in this way not affect my participation in the next commitments of our national team. With surprise I receive the statement from the coaching staff, stating that they do not count on me and wishing me a full recovery. A recovery that I have already made and in which I have sacrificed a lot. The above fills me with deep disappointment, for what it means to me playing for my country. Not receiving the trust of the coaching staff breaks with everything and causes me enormous pain. For my colleagues the best energy and best wishes. I will support with passion as always."

The lad is a fantastic player but he has zero commitment to everton and personally I have no time for any player that cant be arsed going half an hour down the road to do a lap of honor for the fans. Their were kids there with his name on their backs and it would of ment the world to them to see him but no, he had to get his 12 hours of war zone in didnt he.

Davies has Osman's technique just not Osman's brain.

Both are/were slight and slow, but Osman's knew where to be and use the ball.
