Based on our antics over the last 3/4 years, I wouldn’t want us to spend £30m plus on a player agin anytime soon, bar Lukaku (who was already a proven top premier league striker) they’ve all been fails.

Anyone in that bracket or price range that become available to us are clearly not good enough to push us up towards the top 4/6, if they were, the existing top 6 clubs and or Big European clubs (Hello Inter) would already be all over them.

Or someone young enough that they haven't been snapped up yet

Personally I’d have taken Vlasic back. It’ll be annoying if he does well at WH

I didn’t want us to go for Daniel James but would have liked Lingard,

It’s dangerous territory we’re in, mad scramble at the last minute. Not sure burdening the club with two/three year contracts for whoever we can get at the last minute is the way to go. Particularly if we’re talking squad players or folk that were way down our list. Almost rather we leave it until next season when another load of dead woods’ contracts will have expired and freed up some wages to sign someone who will come straight into the first team.
