Everton Summer transfers 2021

I can stomach paying Theo Walcott to play for someone else, just about.

I can't stomach paying James Rodriguez to play for someone else.

It's just bad business.

If Benitez has made it clear that he has no place in the team for a lad who can't run, getting even a portion of his wages off the books makes sense - he earns about £10m per year from us, even getting a quarter of that off the books makes sense if (and only if) Benitez can't fit him into his tactical set-up. That's a whole other argument, but the short version for me is that we look like a far more cohesive unit this season already and I doubt that James could play on the right of that set-up or in the area where Richarlison has been and give us the same defensive solidity and pressing.

Anyway, moot point - it'll be a bit annoying watching him play elsewhere and paying part of his wages when he's such a wonderfully talented player, but even this early in the season I can understand why Benitez wants no part of him in his team.

Sitting here trying to think of the most “Iwobi” style panic signing we could make this window. £30m for Lingard is the most obvious choice.
Yes, if say our wide player targets were Diaz/Boga/James and those don't work we should stop and try again in January. I'd hate to see what comes after Daniel James...

Likewise for RB, we went Dumfries/Patterson/AMN - I don't want to see what comes next.

Technically he’s brilliant. I suspect it’s a attitude/personality clash here tho. You can have all the ability going but if the mindset isn’t there, it will only get you so far.

Let’s be honest if he was on it in all capacity he wouldn’t be at Everton.

Latest from The Echo.

Arsenal have told Everton they are currently not prepared to let Ainsley Maitland-Niles leave on loan.

The Blues had opened talks with the Gunners over the possibility of a loan move for the 24-year-old, who can play right-back and in midfield.

But Arsenal have informed Everton they are not willing to let Maitland-Niles out on loan on deadline day.

The player is reportedly due to speak with Mikel Arteta this afternoon in the hope of pushing through a late move away from the Emirates.

So looking like nkounkou out on loan and incomings looking unlikely as things stand.

Godfrey having to cover left back and Coleman/Kenny for right back again…

So frustrating seeing West Ham and spurs strengthening their entire squad whilst we stand still. Benitez got a hell of a job on his hand to keep us competitive this season.

Agreed but a reminder that both those clubs have European commitments on top of their domestic schedules. We can afford to be somewhat streamlined but if we end up with CB’s covering fullbacks that is poor

Arsenal have just signed a RB to replace Bellerin so its not like they are short.

They just dont want to strengthen us its that simple same as they rejected a cash offer from Wolves previously despite not playing him.
