Putting pressure on the club...basically I go if you pay me the season in full...if not I am happy to stay...at home...
He may be staying at home while the window is open, but he won’t be paying paid for very long if he’s refusing to train/play after it’s closed.

I don’t think that’ll happen anyway. He has world class talent. Rafael will find a way to use him. Plus he’ll need to play games to get a new club in jan/summer 22. It’ll be fine.

I get that, but we are trying to get into Europe. It is a risk that the managers don’t seem to take. They are judged on results and last about 18months with us. In that climate there is absolutely no incentive to develop youngsters.

Clubs in European competition have more opportunity to use youngsters. It’s something David Moyes did very effectively when he was here. With us not being in Europe our opportunities are limited to the cups and however long we managed to survive in them.

The other aspect is that I don’t think we have developed many youngsters that are any good. Gordon possibly, but he looked a bit out of his depth. Branthwaite needs more experience before he can be a regular starter. Smalling might’ve made the grade, but he left. Simms has only played in division one so still a lot for him to prove.

The one we persevered with was Dominic Calvert Lewin. Look at the abuse the club has had for sticking with him, it’s back to what Arsène Wenger said, playing youngsters means you get less points.
I'm not talking about playing a team of kids. I'm talking about having 2 or 3 in the squad to develop them and cover the odd game, in which they will be playing alongside experienced players.

I agree that some clubs/managers don't play kids and we're one of them. Many more clubs do. But if you were a young player deciding on a club to go to would you pick Everton at the moment? I wouldn't. If you were coming through the ranks at Everton and highly sought after by other clubs, would you sign your first contract here?. I wouldn't.

It isn't just Everton. The likes of City and Chelsea are losing their young players hand over fist once they get to their late teens because they don't see a path through to the first team. The best they can do is put buy back/sell on clauses into the contracts or rely on tribunal fees.

Though I still think there will be a surprise, I think James is also like a new signing. We were all convinced he was off, if he stays, we get an amazing player that we thought was gone. tentative I know, but it is James effin Rodrigues
You are changing your spin on things now.
All along telling people who said we would do very little business they were delusional.
Now a current player is like a new signing.
Is that you Bill ?
