Everton Summer transfers 2021

Well lobbing circa £400m at footballers hasnt worked has it? There are no guarantees in football, other than never rely on Spurs, but the ability/chance to build the ground will never come round again.
I think we all know this squad is not equipped for a full PL season. We are 1 injury from disaster on several positions. Until this club starts being ruthless enough to overhaul the squad then they need to bin off all the ambition chat. Spending 1.6m is league 1 ambition.

No one was asking for reckless spending. Just to plug gaps and sign a right back. Instead we got 2 back up keepers.

Its good that we have really cut back on our wasteful spending yes. But to cut it back to a spend of 1.6m is pretty pathetic. Thats the sort of window that sets you back equally as much as one where you blow a ton of cash. Standing still = going backwards.

We needed a right back urgently. Everyone connected with the club knew it. To not get one is an utter joke and the DOF has to go.
The club had to act quickly over Townsend and Gray or we would not have got them. The rest of the Window has been spent trying to move players on. This is an awful almost impossible task as the world recovers from a global pandemic and football finances everywhere are in tatters.

To be quite honest getting players for the first team squad and getting is probably not the clubs main priority this summer. It is been reducing the wage bill so that the club avoids what is a potentially unlimited punishment from the league. We can be fined, have points deducted, or have transfers bans.

There is some leeway in the situation because of COVID, but we have had to get our house in order. You need to get your head around that fact.

Sky jizzing over United and Real Madrid spending loads of money..

They tried to ruin the whole league a few months ago.

Soon forgot that didn’t you !

Gobshites.
Can't be doing with the whole thing, yapping over a deal that didn't happen and the RS captain signing a contract extension as their go-to graphic after each break.

Prioritising a stadium over winning football matches is unacceptable.
I don’t think it’s that. We’re straddled with a high wage turnover on players which simply aren’t suitable and with little chance of moving them on to other clubs.

We've struggled to move on James - a truly skilled player - so you can only image it's a difficult task to move on the likes of Gomes and Delph.

To spend even more on players wages while they're still on the books is simply unsustainable in terms of the PL rules; that's before considering the fees.

With Kenny looking unlikely to move on, it always looked likely that we'd be stuck with our right back options, but we've seen it's difficult to offload him too.

As @roydo said, this year is going to be difficult in terms of squad size and capability, but come next year we've got a fair chunk of dead wood wages gone.
