It's not the positivity I care about mate. That's not a journalist's job, regardless of what team they support. I'd rather get it reported as it is. And I honestly think Brands has deserved this public stick because frankly he seems crap at a big part of his role.

But, it's the tone of it all and I just know that that info has not gone to Joyce from the club. It's from Benitez's camp.

No surprise is it that Joyce has suddenly started coming back into the fold with info since Rafael was appointed.
It’s what Benitez does, create division within the clubs he manages

Honestly I'm just reading it again. I'd put it on here but not sure what's allowed since it's behind a paywall.

I feel a bit sick.

Again, it only backs up what I thought. I think Brands is hopeless right now. But there's certain turns of phrase and jibes - basically absolving Benitez of anything already. It's like a hit piece on the rest of the club.

Is that public stick? Telling us we were actively trying to sign a new RB under strict financial constraints?

Rather Benitez than Brands handling transfers.

Down to Brands we might not have signed anyone at all.

Either way, the DOF model has failed at Everton. I think it can work, and has done so effectively at other clubs, but in the present circumstances it doesn't fit our needs.

There are too many questions regarding Brands' role and what he does and doesn't do. The end result is the same though, stagnation at best, regression at worst.

Haha it's just written in such an arse-licking way.

Absolving RB of blame for something that actually hasn't happened yet, for one.

I dunno, it's like a hit piece on the rest of the club.

I mean, I don't think it's untrue, but it doesn't sit right with me. It feels like it's info from one camp. Maybe it's just Joyce being a twisted red and writing it how he sees it...

I mean we don’t need Paul Joyce to tell us that Brands in an incompetent buffoon, it’s basically the consensus anyway.

Oh yeah. Not the issue really.

It's more that Joyce seems to suddenly have had a lot more info this summer than he's had in a long time... and then something like this comes out which is basically big up Benitez and slag everyone else off. Now Benitez hasn't done anything wrong so far, but it'll be interesting to see what articles get written if things start going badly... that's kind of what I mean. It's setting a precedent.

I can see the Benitez wasn't properly backed article in February already
