For the first i at least think we are consolidating this season to rebuild next. Every year has been a circus of big names with no heart coming in. This year has been underwealming but I think the team may improve through teamwork.
I’m m sick of mercenaries.
moyes came in and booted ginola and gascoigne- the team pulled together, the circus ended and we ended our annual relegation struggle. We need benetez to do this and then invest in top draw players once the the system and work rate is place. Build foundations first

I'm less arsed about us not chucking huge fees around, just frustrated that we seemingly couldn't muster funds to bring in anyone for a fee. Even a 'potential' sub £10m signing.

The frustration for me is less the context meaning financial restraints (it happens), more how wasteful we've been since Moshiri joined and significant resource was available. You don't need to buy a £50 million ghost and a 23 million poor Dutch imitation of the ghost, for example, to bolster the squad. Invested properly half the problems we have now wouldn't be a problem at all.

While I agree, it could be a case of using this season to consolidate could actually backfire on Benitez.
A few injuries and it could cost us and Benitez, we all know it’s not going to take much for a lot of fans to turn on him, in a situation that’s not his fault.

Everton's permanent signings in the Farhad Moshiri era.

Not that.

It's the level of detail and the quotes he's got in from 'a senior staff member'. Also how he goes into detail on Brands' targets etc (and how he failed to land any of them)

Look, I'm not losing my head over it. My issue is I feel it sets a precedent of what is to come. There's one source, in my mind, of most of the info in that story.

Benitez has a lot of previous for using pet journos to do his bidding and to brief against people he either wants rid of or sees a threat.

I think we are more than happy to give him a chance. We'd have liked him to have been backed more if anything.

We just also don't want the baby throwing out with the bathwater.

I think the reality is after Walsh/Brands waste of money these past few years + pandemic there was always going to come a summer of balancing the books.

We've gotten Bolasie, Walcott, Benard, Besic, Pennington, Baningme off the books with Siggurdson, Tosun, Delph & James to come at the end of this season.

Add in the changes to FFP from profit/loss to salary and luxury tax and I think the manager will be backed next summer.

Its why this season has always been a free hit for me in terms of what we achieve/where we finish. Thats not some love in for Benitez its realism and the acknowledgement of our current limitations and huge job he has on his hands.

I would say in 12-18 months time we'll look a lot heathier both in terms of the clubs finances and the squad's commitment/quality on the field.

Rome wasn't built in a day its why soon as we lose a game or James isn't on the team sheet the fans need to reign it in with the "Benitez oot" nonsense - get who in? Potter who we just humbled? Some bloke from Portugal wet behind the ears?

Its time fans united and got behind the manager im looking forward to the season despite acknowledging we'll likely finish 8th at best.

I really like Baz from Toffee TV, especially with how he came across when they did that Sky fans thing with Neville and Keane but Ped is unbearable at times. They do a good match reaction if you have missed a match.

I've been on a few times pre-covid mate and will be going back on again now I'm double jabbed and able to move about. Good on them for getting it going and off the ground. Just think Ped loves being on his high horse and shouting off on Twitter
