Big strong unit and knows how to finishI watched the USA v NI game at the weekend and he played about half an hour. I was pretty impressed by him, especially his strength at holding the ball up and turning his defender. He did miss a half chance but other than that I thought he looked pretty good. Will maybe try and catch a Barnsley game over the weekend to watch.
Yeah I get that. I maybe didn't explain what I meant very well. I'm not saying we should sign one of those players - or even someone with a similar profile - just that you don't have to be a £35m teenager or a former world class player on the way down in order to be a decent option for a team like us. It may well be that there's an unheralded bloke in the French league or the Portuguese league or wherever who could come in and be a good fit.

However in the highlights I have seen his first touch is appalling
Ancelotti has been trying all season to get James behind DCL and Richalrison, for a number of reasons it hasn’t happened. Here’s a few:
We don’t have a right back who can cross a ball
We don’t have any mobile midfielders apart from Docuoure and Allan who have both been injured.
Keane and Mina can’t run.
Richalrison seemingly can’t use his left foot any more.
We’ve literally played 433 with James coming in behind the two strikers. 3412 with wingbacks, 442 with a diamond. Ancelotti has tried all of them but the only formation this group seems to be able to play is 4231 with Richalrison and Iwobi out wide because it’s the only formation that means the midfielders don’t have to run much and the right back doesn’t have to create anything.
I always thought if they started taking the sport seriously, with the way they develop sports people and athletes that they'd become a force, a huge population with all the best equipment but it's way down the list as they prefer US only World series sports hahaI used to be very sceptical of any Yank players but they seems to be finally producing good players.
I have a feeling he may go back to the 4CB’s for the remainder ofAnd crucially James got crocked by Van Dijk and hasn't been right. We got him on a free transfer, for relatively small wages. It was always a gamble, and it has ben a gamble that has paid off, but it's frustrating he hasn't been able to work more.
I genuinely think, had we kept the 4cb's across the back 4, plus the 3 lads mentioned there fit, we would be comfortably in the top 4 now.
DCL isn't great tbf it's his one weak spot (it will improve with time i'm sure) there is a weird stat i remember seeing somewhere that he has 80+ mis controls of the ball and then the nearest after that was Richarlison who had like 43. That American lad does look a half decent player though and i like the way he has gone down to the championship to try and get experience first. Couple of good American lads around at the moment, i still wish we had gone in for McKennie and that Dest looks a hell of a player at times.Big strong unit and knows how to finish

Yeah I'd agree with that. I think it's worth remembering that not everybody has to be an amazing player for us to put together a good squad. If you take this Dike as an example, as long as you're not paying huge money, he doesn't have to turn into a global superstar to make it a worthwhile signing. If you can get someone in for a reasonable fee who's able to offer a bit of competition/change up for a couple of years and then be moved on for an upgrade that's absolutely fine. It feels sometimes like we (both as fans and the club) are constantly looking for the cherry for the top of the cake before we've made sure it's cooked. No problems at all, and don't worry you explained it perfectly well.
This is really where you want your DOF to come in too. When you boil it down, what Calvert Lewin and to a deegree Richarlison give us is a security blanket, that we can be a bit more risky in our next purchase. We can probably sacrifice a little bit short term for hopefully a bigger long term ay off.
I've always held the view, that in bear markets big, unusual opportunities tend to be thrown up. King hasn't worked out yet, but who's to say he won't?
The Kean situation is interesting. As a rule we hven't really developed top class teenagers very well, with the exception being for a short period under Martinez. If they are not going to be 1st choice, I would say we probably have to avoid the very expensive teenagers. You compare it to Lukaku, and he was 1st choice, and Martinez just always played him. Thats what you need to do.

We looked solid with 4 CBs. Suppose they have to get Digne in the team as he’s our most creative force when James is injured. It was interesting that Carlo moved away from the back 4231 formation as soon as Mina was injured. Something about not having the 4 CBS across the back put him off that formation as we’ve not seen it since even though to me it’s looked the most balanced we’ve been all season.
