Again, this is my point. We need quality to go into the starting eleven. We quite simply aren't going to go out and sign 4 or 5 new players to go straight into the team AND 3 or 4 more top quality players to improve the squad. We need to prioritise. To me, signing high quality players in the positions we don't have any is far more important than signing more high quality players in positions we do. In an ideal world that's a 20 year old who goes on to score 300 goals for us and becomes a global icon, but in the real world, if it's a player who scores 30 goals for us and gets sold at a book profit, it's probably worked out alright. There is a touch of the computer game about the way some people look at it, as if you can just go out and sign all the best prospects in the world and they all develop together making you an unstoppable force 5 years down the line. While that would certainly be brilliant, I just don't see it as very likely.
