Everton Summer transfers 2021

I see, but haven't you spent time today saying we should buy young players in order to improve them, but here you are suggesting Godfrey is average and soon we will realise this.

Let's pretend your the only person who sees the truth and he's average, why can't he improve? Is he not the type you suggest we sign? Young players with room to improve?

And can you explain why the majority of people, including non Everton fans, think he's a great player and not average?
He can improve sure, and I hope he does. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to have him improve and he should be starting most the games from now until the end of the year. But for me that is all we have with him for now, potential.

The only people that aren't Everton people I've seen saying he's great are the ones who say every single English underage player is great. For reference England went to the u21 Euros in 2017 with Alfie Mawson, Callum Chambers, Rob Holding, Jack Stephens and Holgate as their CBs. Sometimes it doesn't work out.

Lookman in your dream Everton XI? Who’d have thought it.
Yeah that's not true and not what I meant. I'm saying if in 2018/19 I'm picking the team Lookman is playing and Bernard isn't after about November so come the next summer we aren't in the position of selling him and buying Iwobi.

But if you were running things here this Summer, and could pick an XI to play, you wouldn’t sign Lookman?

If I could sign anyone in the world? No, I would not sign Lookman. Even if we're doing players we could realistically sign it is still most likely a no.

lol, squad player. Hes 20, its going to be a couple of years before he hits form, and if we bring him in its purely for long term development, not as a 1-2 year squad player. Would any other clubs around us sign him? Yes, his parent club already rejected at least one offer from clubs that finished higher than us last season. His game a couple of weeks ago is a great example of what he is right now. Looks like a young Lukaku with pure power and bullies defenders, but a really poor touch when trying to dribble etc. If you can develop that side of his game he has the potential to be as good as Lukaku in a way a smaller/slower player can never be, which is why clubs are interested. Theres no point to bringing him in as a squad player, you purely want to bring him in to see if you can develop him in a couple of years.

He looks bloody gash btw. Altidore with a mix of Niasse. Might make a good centre half though.

The fact that Godfrey is just kind of average.

That's the thing I don't even think he is bad, just funny to me that there are "Euros" and "world class" shouts about a player that isn't definitely better than Keane and Mina. Or even Holgate tbh.

Mina and Keane can barely run, Godfrey can smoke any striker in the league with ease, what are you talking about?

Oh Good God he cant even play football.

Its a very firm no.

That's quite obviously not all that is required.

Look I'll give everyone my most positive assessment of Godfrey: He's an average player today who is new enough to the position and league to still be improving and his physical gifts mean that with the right coaching and provided he does actually improve he could maybe make it to where we want our players to be.

I think that's fair but it is less rosy than what most people think.
